Egy kis falu postahivatalába megérkezik egy csomag svájcból, amit a postás kisasszony elhoz a még kisebb falu utolsó utcájának postaládájába. A nagyméretű boríték kurvajól néz ki, ilyen celofán alatt az utca, házszám, kinek jött ott a név, de nem a gázmű, vízmű, MATÁV béna, semmilyen szarja, hanem két meztelen nő grafikája és a Voodoo Rhythm Records logoja van rajta. Stílusa van, mint mindennek ami az 1991 óta működő lemezkiadóhoz köthető. A lemezborítóktól a merchandise szirszarokon át a berni lemezbolt kirakatáig.
Na, de a boríték tartalma. Három cd, ezek: The Come n Go / The Jackets, Ande Dale Petty. A negyediket nem a postás hozta, azt Tibo, a Destination Lonely volt dobosa adta.

The Come n Go: Tumbling Heights / Voodoo Rhythm Records (2016)

Nekem ők a kedvenceim a Voodoo katalógusából (a Roy & the DMC-vel egyetemben). Ez a NEGYEDIK lemezük (itt az ELSŐ, a MÁSODIK és a HARMADIK), a megjelenéséhez már nem sok reményt fűztem ugyanis 2014 nyarán kezdték a felvételeket azóta nem igen jöttek hírek. Aztán egyszer csak: püfff megjelenik! Kemény 26 perc, hahaha!
Tökmindegy, hogy rövid, mert eddig ez a legjobb lemezük és annyi minden kavarog benne, hogy úgyis szétszedi az agyadat meg úgy is indítod újra és újra hogy szedje szét megint. Van itt minden, RnB, garage-trash, psychedelik elszállás vagy AC/DC–Rose Tattoo keménységű boogie ÉS EGY AKKORA Bad Brains (Attitude) átdolgozás, hogy széthalsz!

A hangzásért és mindenféle fura zajokért Marcus Staehli (a Roy & the DMC-ből) a felelős, úgyhogy arra panasz nem lehet, van egy elég konkrét drogos atmoszférája az egész lemeznek, de csak finoman, szépen.Van egy Lemmy című dal is több mint 6 (!) perces, az összes többi másfél két perc. Ja és még valami. Nagy alkohol kedvelő az egész csapat, az egyik gitáros pedig egyenesen PÁLINKA rajongó, csak sajnos helytelenül úgy hiszi, hogy a pálinka román ital. Nem, a pálinka NEM román, hanem magyar ital!!!!!! Pálinkás videó #1 #2 és #3 !

The Jackets: Shadows of Sound / Voodoo Rhythm Records (2015)

Fuzzy Garage – Rock n Roll bulizene a svájci triotól, ez már harmadik nagylemezük, viszont első a Voodoonál. Nem egészen az én zeném, de stílusában NAGYON jó! Az énekes/gitáros lány a Sex Organs nevű duóban is benne van, férjével aki történetesen a holland The Anomalys tagja. A dobos pedig a Get Lostban játszott régebben együtt ex-Miracle Workers tagokkal (!) és Beat Man mögött is dobolt amikor még nem ‘Reverend’ hanem Lightning Beat-Mannek hívták és wrestling maszkban terrorizálta Európa klubjainak közönségét. Szóval biztos láttak már ezt-azt. Állítólag élőben nagyon dögösek, az énekesnő Jack Torera nagyon frankó színpadi jelenség és a videójuk is elég állat:

Én elhiszem, azt meg hallom is, hogy nagyon egyben van az egész, nagyon jók a dalok, kurvajól meg vannak írva és a hangzás is bomba (a Monstersben szoktak így berregni/zümmögni a gitárok, meg a Black Magic Sixben).
Nekem a lemez második felén lévő nyugisabb számok jönnek be inkább a kicsit a Dead Moont idéző ‘Astronaut’ különösen! Mondjuk bevallom eddig még nem sikerült a lemezt meghallgatnom részegen, lehet akkor mást mondanék. Az biztos, ha megkeresnének, hogy jönnének RNR666 buliba játszani válaszunk egy hatalmas IGEN! lenne.

Andy Dale Petty: Frick’s Lament / Voodoo Rhythm Records (2015)

Full akkusztikus lemez, főleg bendzsó és gitár néhány dalban némi dob. Mai amerikai FOLK. Mielőtt azt mondanád, hogy: „Na ez a fajta zene engem egyáltalán nem érdekel!”, azért, tegyél egy próbát Andy Dale Petty Frick’s Lament c. albumával, lehet épp ez a lemez változtat majd a véleményeden. Ez a country-blue grass-folk cucc, amit ez az alig 30 éves srác játszik, KURVAJÓ! Érdekesen került a Voodoo Rhythm-höz. Beat-Man a Voodoo irodába üldögélt mikor jött egy levél King Khantól benne egy cd, meg egy pár sor, hogy K.K. találkozott egy Andy nevű 18 éves sráccal aki utazgat összevissza, le-föl az USA ban (többnyire vonattal, vagy gyalog) egy szál gitárral és játszik ahol csak tud, olyasformán ahogy azt fiatal Bob Dylan híresztelte magáról. Nem sokkal később e levélnek köszönhetően megjelent Andy első lemeze, a All God’s Children Have Shoes. És Andy megérdemelte a belé vetett bizalmat, mert ez az új album még az elsőnél is sokkal-sokkal jobb!

Destination Lonely: No One Can Save Me / Voodoo Rhythm Records (2015)

Szép lelkek, depresszióra hajlamosak, frissen pofára ejtett brókenhártok, kerüljék ezt a lemezt amilyen messze csak lehet, ha beraknánk valamelyik RNR666 buli után a cd-t rohanjanak hazafele hátrahagyva sört, cigit, mindent, de komolyan!

Ilyen tömény negatív energiát lemezre rögzíteni rocknroll műfajban még csak nagyon keveseknek sikerült. Én szerencsére elég jó passzban vagyok mostanában, de hajnal háromkor fülhallgatóval a konyhában hallgatni (és olvasni a dalszövegeket) még így is elég megterhelő volt. Mondjuk tudtam mire számíthatok, ismerem már a bandát az első kislemez óta, sőt a tagok korabbi bandáit is ismerem már rég, azok sem sokkal könnyebb hallgatnivalók (The Fatals, Kung Fu Escelators, Mighty Gogo Players, Complications). Na, de milyen legyen egy zenekar amelyik egy Cheater Slicks lemez után nevezi el magát?! Meg ahol olyan fejük van a tagoknak mint ezeknek?! Kibaszott börtön- és/vagy kocsmatöltelék mind. Hahaha!

Megint csak azt tudom mondani mint az előző 3 lemezről amikről fentebb írtam: az előző lemezeik is nagyok voltak, de ez az új a LEGJOBB! Remélem látjuk egyszer őket RNR666 buliban és akkor azt is tudom, hogy az első sorban fogok térdepelni Emberkutyával és ököllel ütjük majda színpadot. Lehet ez vót a tavalyi év legjobb lemeze? Fasztuggya, egy sem jut az eszembe.

Mivel már csak pár nap választ el minket a JÖVŐ SZOMBATtól, amikor is megüljük végre Lux Interior Harmadik Budapesti Halotti Torát, gondoltam, jól jöhet egy kis adalék az öregről: következzék tehát, Lux Interior és szerelme, Poison Ivy megismerkedésének hiteles története!

 „Mindketten a Sacramento-i Főiskola művészeti tagozatra jártunk a 70-es évek elején. Meglehetősen fura hely volt akkoriban Sacramento és azon belül is az egész művészeti kar: az osztályokba csak hippik jártak, akik javarészt boszorkánysággal, metafizikával és hasonló fura dolgokkal foglalkoztak szabadidejükben és az órákon egyaránt. Luxot a „Művészet És Sámánizmus” kurzuson láttam először, ahol „A Szent Gomba És A Kereszt” címet viselte a jegyzetünk. Ez az óra, gyakorlatilag a Biblia, ezen belül is, Krisztus, mint egyfajta metafora és az Amanita Muscaria nevű gomba kapcsolatával foglalkozott. Az érdemjegyek kiosztása sem volt kevésbé rendhagyó ezen a kurzuson: a tanár megkérdezte, hogy hanyast akarsz kapni, te bemondtál egy osztályzatot, ő pedig ezt szó nélkül megadta… szóval az egész fősuli ilyen laza hely volt, ahol rövid úton egymásra találtunk Vele és nagyon gyorsan egymásba is zúgtunk!”

 „Először az utcán láttam meg Ivy-t, amint épp autóstoppolni próbált egy zsinóros bikinifelsőben és egy nagyon-nagyon-nagyon rövid nadrágban, aminek ráadásul, a fenék részén egy hatalmas lyuk tátongott, így jól látható volt a vörös bugyi, amelyet a Ivy a forrónadrág alatt viselt. Egy haverommal voltam éppen, akivel tök egyszerre mondtuk, hogy „Who-o-o-oh!”, persze azonnal leszólítottuk Őt és ha jól emlékszem, kb. három másodperc alatt „durrantam be” a látványától!”

Tomorrows Tulips has been formed as a duo because Alex’s girlfriend „Christina said something about hating to go to Paul Mitchell hair school and I asked her what she always wanted to do. She said she wanted to learn drums but thought that was ridiculous.” At that time Alex was in the garage rock band Japanese Motors.

He was sixteen or seventeen the first time he heard the Velvet Underground box-set. „I remember listening to Velvet Underground and the out-of-tune guitars and there was such a sense of freedom to it. I think I heard them and thought, I wanna do that.” And he does that.

Today the band is a trio, but the drummer is Jennifer. They are difficult egomaniacs, coming from Costa Mesa, Orange County, California, and play esoteric doo wop grunge, and you will hear really cool bass if you click now

Keep Yourself Alive

Members are Jack Torera – formerly the guitarist for the girl garage rock group The Mad Cowgirl Disease; Chris Rosales: formerly the drummer of Lightning Beat-Man and the Never Heard of ‘Ems, Reverend Beat-Man and the Unbelievers and The Get Lost; Samuel Schmidiger: singer and guitar player for The Budget Boozers!!!!

Whooa! It’s a fucking good band – I said during the listening to the recordings, despite I am not a big fan of math rock. And finally it turned up that two bands’ songs was mixed up in my player, the Ukrainian Gravitsapa, and the Italian Astolfo Sulla Luna (Astolfo on the Moon).

Astolfo plays quantum mechanic rock which is based on uncertainty principle under strong influence of literature. „Obnoxious, antiseptic, mathematician, restless, unreal, evil, tender.” Synthesize the reality and then spit it out with delay distortions. Anyway „Astolfo hates you. But basically, it is hated by everyone…” And he has a horn, so loud that his all enemies to flee in terror when it sounds.

Astolfo is one of the 12 paladins of Charlemagne, went to the Moon on Elijah’s chariot of fire to search his friend Orlando’s wit. Because on the Moon „is wonderfully stored / Whatever on our earth below we lose. / Collected there are all things whatsoe’er, / Lost through time, chance, or our own folly, here.” And there Astolfo of course found Orlando’s wit in a bottle – by poem of Ludovico Ariosto (1474-1533).

But chariot of fire does not run too often, so if we want to travel to the Moon because for example do not find our mental balance, we maybe can use a Pepelats interplanetary spacecraft. And it has an important component which allows intergalactic travel: Gravitsapa. From which this Ukrainian math rock band has got his name.

„Musicians do not expect to find understanding on Earth, so they are trying to gain spiritual experience and create music as divinities for new audiences of spiritual connoisseurs of inadequate.” They are constantly compared with King Crimson, which band was unknown for them, and mainly inspired by film directors: by sincerity of Jodorowsky (Chilean scholar in comparative religion, playwright, director, producer, composer, actor, mime, comic book writer, tarot reader, historian and psychotherapist), craziness of Lynch, atmospheric of Sokurov (Russian), conceptuality of Yevgeny Yufit (necrorealist Russian) and the monotony of Hungarian Béla Tarr. And Pepelats comes from a Soviet sci-fi black comedy Kin-Dza-Dza!

When I listened to them two bands came to my mind: the  proto math rock hardcore jazz Victim’s Family, and the Dutch jazz punk band Morzelpronk.

With this a plumb nonsense has come true. Because it’s a cover of a short-lived Hungarian hard rock band Fáraó‘s song, which was released in 1986 as a single. And this was the only record of the band. I’ve asked them what is the story behind the cover.

In Satan We Trust will be released by Iron Bonehead Productions on January 25th. You can listen to the full album. But “If you want to listen [to] Baphomet’s Blood, buy a turntable, a bottle of Jim Beam bourbon whiskey and worship Satan!” – said Vittorio in an interview.

Apropos of a previous GBB release RNR666 wrote about Sick Thoughts: „Lo-fi raw garage punk. As if the LiveFastDie and the Outdoorsmen would play at the same time. Sometimes like a lo-fi garage Motörhead.”  The Black Panties are similar. The song, Shoot Me in My Head is brilliant, the best Sick Thoughts track what I have ever heard. UFUX is Christopher Ilth’s new band. He was in Functional Blackouts and Daily Void, and play hc-punk. As montage artist he said in an interview: „I gravitated towards Dada & Surrealism through the pioneers of the punk movement in the 70’s. Those art movements shared individuality, autonomy, rebellion. However, punk, while having a visual side through fashion, record sleeves & fliers, was mainly about music. Dada & Surrealism was not only a visual art movement, but was also a revolt of everyday life with manifestos, pranks, and revolution that made a statement against the establishment and reason.” (US)
