strangehands

STRANGE HANDS of Bordeaux. 60s-like dynamic psych garage rock trio without bass, but with 12 strings guitars and organ.

„Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things” LP on Azbin (France) and Ayo Silver (Spain), cassette on Burger Records (US)

Western Euro tour in July. One of the craziest parties of RNR666 was of theirs. Look!

„Solo Paradise” MOLLY NILSSON‘s musical reports from Buenos Aires. Bittersweet heart beats, sunny economic breaks, romantic cats and plane crash. The Latin mood didn’t touch very much her Scandinavian attitude. She’s one of the most interesting performers in the synth pop underground.

Sólo Paraíso (The Summer Songs) on Night School Records (UK)

+ „These Things Take Time”, her debut CDr from 2008 is on double LP with unreleased recordings from the same period  by Dark Skies Association (Swe)

In the future too:  “Our knives are never dull / our moon is always full”

Boring? Listen to Black Metal Intros!

chacha

Cha Cha Guitri was a French minimal synth pop band in Saint-Etienne in the early 80s. The boys composed and sang, the girls sang and designed minimal costumes. Only two cassettes were released and three concerts were given. They were too artistic for the break-through.

Their records of 1981 on LP/CD/digital on Born Bad Records (France)

Mr. Pop Under Torture

„Justin Biber is the future of rock’n’roll” – said Iggy Pop
after an easy chat with specialists of the Amnesty International

iggyundertorture

„The overall goal of this campaign is to try to influence people’s ideas on the use of torture. According to surveys, a shocking number of people believe that “torture may sometimes be useful” ; more than 36% of people even think that torture is justified in some cases. This is unacceptable, and we illustrate this reality with the message that a man who is tortured will say anything in order to escape this awfulness, using provocative images and statements to attract public attention. We would therefore also like to make it clear that the statement attributed to Iggy Pop that he believes Justin Bieber is the future of rock and roll does not represent Iggy Pop’s personal opinion but was part of the creative process for this campaign and was intended to be ironic. The image has been removed.”

Somewhere On The Baseline Road

New Zealand for me: sheep, Hillary, the big beer boycott of Greymouth, continuous earthquake, Flying Nun and Axemen

The newest band there is the Avoid! Avoid! It’s a psychedelic, kraut rock inspired trio from the Baseline Rd

Dadaist Dance Party with a Little Marsh Fever

Here are the recent RNR666 Party’s pics. There were two great French bands. Badaboum is like a Neue Deutsche Welle band infected with Malaria. Unfortunately their show was very short, because the bass guitar got spoiled on fore-part of their show, and there wasn’t another one.
Bonne Humeur Provisoire is a Dadaist dance band. Their instruments are unseeable on the pics. They have a big table with keyboards and lots of weird gadgets.

dubthompson

Dub Thompson plays a strange mix of contemporary music. You can find there almost every style of music that was heard by them: dub, new wave, kraut rock, stupid cartoon tunes, punk , hip hop and more. Really amazing.

In last autumn The Wytches emerged all at once from the nothing, i.e. from the Peterborough’s plain in East of England. They’re one of the best new-comer garage rock bands. Their music is er garage doom grunge surf or such a thing.

DEPAKINE CHRONO. Czech punks on acid with guitar, drums and calculators. Debut album on cassette

and digital. A witty pun track title: Iva 8bittova

Side effects: seizure, double vision, back-and-forth movements of the eyes, seeing flashes of light, blurred visions, lack of coordination, confusion, hallucinations, tremors, dizziness, ringing in your ears, problems with thinking or memory…

Music for Sliding

They said: acid punk. I say: psychedelic rock. Influenced by kraut rock and Japanese pop. Similar to another Japanese band, Boris.

BO NINGEN – SLIDER

from the album III on Stolen Recordings (UK)

Their short story: 2006. Two Japaneses meet in London and form the Bo Ningen. Give only one show where the audience to force them to cease music. 2007. One of them meets another Japanese. Big happiness. They play music for 10 hours per day. Finally the drummer is coming towards them.
