18. Finally and sadly from a relatively new album. It was released in February this year by French chanteuse Barbara Weldens. She was electrocuted and died on stage at Leo Ferre Festival in July this year. She was habitually barefoot on the stage and something went wrong.

Kibaszott jó lesz.
Fellép a ROUND EYE, a Stooges szaxofonosának utolsó bandája. Meglepő módon Shanghaiból, ahol kétszer is az év zenekarának választották őket. Zenéjük annyira eklektikus és szórakoztató, akár Mike Patton zenekara, a Mr. Bungle, csak vitathatatlanul punk. A csapat tagjai ott élő amerikai zenészek, meg egy olasz muzsikus.
A ROUND EYE története 2010-ben kezdődött, mikor Chachy az amerikai álmot kínaira cserélte, és egy nagy ugrással Floridából Shanghaiba termett, ahol megalakította kínai zenekarát. Amerikai zenekara a Libyan Hit Squad sem volt egyszerű eset, bár az is vitán felül punk volt, de olyan hatásokkal, mint a jazz dobos Buddy Rich, a free jazz alapvetés Ornette Coleman, vagy a hard rock Blue Öyster Cult. A ROUND EYE erre rátesz még két lapáttal, amiből valami elképesztő hc punk jazz ska rock and roll doo wop blues surf bolondéria kerekedik ki:
Első albumuk készítése idején csatlakozott hozzájuk a Stooges szaxofonosa, Steve Mackay, aki velük csinálta élete utolsó turnéját és lemezét, aminek megjelenése után négy hónappal elhunyt, de játéka még az idén megjelent második ROUND EYE albumon is hallható.
Ő egyébként úgy került a Stogees-be, hogy Iggy Pop látott valahol Detroitban játszani egy dob/szaxofon duót, és két nappal a Fun House lemez felvételeinek megkezdése előtt megkérte a szaxofonost, Steve Mackay-t, hogy csatlakozzon zenekarához. Eképp instruálta:
– Azt szeretném, hogy játssz úgy, mintha te lennél Maceo Parker, csak LSD-ben.
Maceo Parker akkoriban James Brown szaxofonosa volt.

A Suntan azt figurázza ki, hogy a kínaiak meg vannak veszve a fehér bőrért. Az, az igazán szép. Meg az előkelőség, a gazdagság jele. Annyira, hogy napsütéses időben elnéptelenednek a parkok. Annyira vigyáznak rá, nehogy úgy nézzenek ki, mint egy mezei munkán sült paraszt:

I was working in the front of the office’s big glass window when the new SHARP printer/copier machine has arrived. The workers put it right before the same old one. On that day it was raining. And through the leaky roof raindrops fell on the new one. It was covered with plastic film.
Since then three months passed. The new machine is right before the old one. And if it is raining, they cover it with plastic film.

HANGVERSENY – of Montreal @ A38
Kevin Barnest, az of Montreal fejét hálistennek nem nagyon kell bemutatni, főleg mivel teljesen hibbant és eklektikus zenéje a 2007-es Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer című lemez idején a teljes zenei sajtó figyelmét magára vonta.
Másrészt az of Montreal 20 éves pályafutása során volt már neo-pszichedelikus barkács zenekar, színpadi elemeket sem nélkülöző barokk pop produkció és a közelmúltban még EDM hatások is megjelentek lemezeiken. A folyamatos megújulás ellenére az of Montreal mégis abszolút felismerhető jelenség – bár sajnos a lemezek minőségi kiegyenlítettségéről kevesebb jót tudnék mondani, azért a nagy számok törvénye szerencsére az of Montrealnak is kedvez.
Ennyit az értelmes bevezetésről, kezdhetünk is hangolódni a hétfői A38-as koncertre!

ROUND EYE’S LONG EUROPEAN SUMMER MARCH
ROUND EYE, the last band of late Stooges saxophonist Steve Mackay is touring in Europe!
Surprisingly they come from Shanghai, where they were voted for the band of the year two times in a row. Their music is so eclectic and entertaining like Mike Patton’s band Mr. Bungle, but undisputedly punk. The members are American and Italian ex-pats.
Their story has been started when Chachy replaced the American Dream with the Chinese one, and with a big leap moved from Florida to Shanghai. There he has formed his Chinese band ROUND EYE.
His American band was the Libyan Hit Squad. It also was not a simple affair, but was undisputedly punk with such influences as jazz drummer Buddy Rich, free jazz pioneer Ornette Coleman, or the hard rock band Blue Öyster Cult. But ROUND EYE adds two more shovelful of it, so their music is hardly descript, but I try: it is an amazing hardcore punk jazz ska rock and roll doo wop blues surf madhouse.
During the recordings of their first album Stooges saxplayer Steve Mackay joined, and made his final album and tour with them. He died 4 months after the album release, but you can listen to him on ROUND EYE second album Monster Vision too which released this year.
And this summer you can catch them somewhere in Europe

Hey Butt What The Fuck with Honkies
This South-London honky-tonk band was able disturbed me
with messages through various channels within a very short time
about their first single, called Entitled to Nothing
For example they wrote that „a blend of South-London scuzz incorporating elements country, electronic, post-punk and lo-fi. File next to bands such as Goat Girl, Meatraffle, Warmduscher, peeping Drexels and the Rebel”, but also Country Teasers. „Using vintage drum machines, synthesizers, guitars, bass and male/female vocals.” And thye are really just „like a drunken boat.” With Keel Her in the title song. She nowadays also appeared in other bands as Bin Bags, Administrators and maybe more.
But now I ask Jim from Honkies
– Hey! What is your temper?
– My temper is dependent on two things: bullishly high crypto-currency share prices and Hank Williams cover requests.
– Anyway what things annoy you in the weekdays?
– Lesser Honkies gigs, lesser Honkies activity.
