Take a Trip with Shit and Shine on Deutsche Bahn!

I think no need to write too much about SHIT AND SHINE on this page ’cause everybody know it is an electro-noise-madhouse made by a Texan man. Its every album is a surprise because you never know what you get but you are never disappointed. This time that madhouse is a disciplined one, you can enjoy it on the new double album MANNHEIM HBF. To me it seemed as if would be a German travel diary so I have asked Craig

Was it born during a Shit & Shine tour in Germany?
– It was indeed but also I lived in that particular region of Germany as a teenager and I loved it there.
There are some hauptbahnhofs on the album. Why the Mannheim one was chosen as the title track?
– Because I kept ending up there to transfer trains while touring so it seemed fitting.

So I think „Mannheim Hbf” is analogue with Kraftwerk 4th album „Autobahn” which was inspired by driving on motorways. In this case the matter is the German railway, you can listen to its beats on this album where the second station is Kircheim. It is a town in Baden-Württenberg approximately 35 kilometers (22 miles) southeast of Stuttgart. It is located on the small river Lauter in the foothills of the central Swabian Alb:

Double album MANNHEIM HBF will be released on Texan label 12XU RECORDS on 28th of March.

USA/Mexico

USA/Mexico : Live in Paris (Riot Season / 12XU) 2025

A Texas-i szörnyetegek új albuma egy koncertfelvétel a tavalyi párizsi (Sonic Protesr Festival) fellépésükről.

Our Black Godfather & Our Black Cousin

One year in penitentiary and bad conduct discharge was the sentence of Navy’s Court Martial in the fraudulent enlistment case of 15 years old Andre Williams, who was born in 1936, Alabama. „Kiss-my-ass-mother-fuckers!” was his response. Right after his discharge he went to Detroit with 25 dollars in his pocket. The day of the coming he entered for a talent show, afternoon wrote a song and won. His first hit was Bacon Fat in 1956 on Fortune Records

Then he worked with Motown Records as a producer too. Wrote and recorded songs together with Stevie Wonder, The Contours, Ike & Tina Turner and more, and also wrote some songs for Parliament and Funkadelic. In the 80s he became a homeless because his hard r’n’b lifestyle. He came back with a rap album in 1990. Since he has made amazing albums in various style: garage rock, blues, country, funk and soul. These were released such labels as In The Red, Bloodshot or Norton Records.

One of his early songs, Jailhouse Blues from 1958 has been covered by Obnox (aka Bim Thomes, drummer of blues punk band Bassholes)

The new Obnox album Boogalou Red is coming this month on 12xU Records (US). Gospel trash

Dead Mall Blues

„I’m tired of American bands that sound like they’ve listened to more New Order than Howlin’ Wolf or Hank Williams.”  – John Schooley

The harmonica player Walter Daniels and guitarist John Schooley have been shadowy figures in the rock n’ roll underground for a combined forty years. Daniels was mixing blues with punk rock as far back as 1992 with Austin, Texas combo Jack O’ Fire, alongside the Big Boys’ Tim Kerr. He recorded with the Oblivians the Melissa’s Garage Revisited LP (1999), but recorded and performed live with everyone from James Williamson to Eugene Chadbourne, most recently lending his harp to the OBN III’s for their latest album. John Schooley is known as a root rock’n’roll one man band (but he is also member in The Revelators). His first single was among Goner’s first records, and another cult label, Voodoo Rhythm also released his records. It’s a meaningful fact that he toured with blues legend R.L. Burnside as his guitarist.

deadmallok

Now the two together on one, exclusively acoustic album, titled Dead Mall Blues. It’s mainly a selection from the American songbook. 8 from the 10 songs

We Got To Meet Death One Day by Blind Willie McTell (1898-59)

Poor Willie lost his eyesight in his childhood. Soon after lost his father, then his mother, so went whither he could. Wandered in Georgia with his 12 strings guitar. His records were frequently released between 1927 and 35, but under different names because he signed exclusive contracts with concurrent labels… It was a generally established custom at that time. After his record of 1949 he became itinerant musician again. In 1956 a record shop owner recognized him at a corner in Atlanta. The man lured him to his shop with a bottle of corn whiskey. During some shows his last tracks were recorded there.

From RNR666 party I know a Turkish new wave synth-punk band: Kirik Cizgi. Now here is another one: Kim Ki O. Their music is a little more darker and minimal than the other one, but it shows surprising rhythmical similarity! Yes, the influence of Turkish folklore. Bir, Iki LP compiles the best cuts from Kim Ki O’s long out of print CDs, with a song from (!)Enfant Terrible Record’s „Radio Resistancia” CD compilation. „Synth, bass, indie, dark”

Armand Margejka was born an Albanian small town Tropoia, located on the highland near the border of Kosovo. Tropoia district has had a long reputation as one of the wildest and most conservative regions in Albania, virtually out of control of every government in Tirana. The family arsenal often takes up a whole room and typically includes anti-tank mines, hand grenades, and rocket launchers besides rifles, revolvers, machine guns, stilettos, swords, baseball bats and all sorts of old guns which goes from father to son. Instead of insurance brokers insurgence agents go about the countryside. Albania was the most isolated and most poorest among the Eastern-European communist states. The Stalinism was the most persistent here. Moreover there are the tribal differences and the beautiful tradition of vendetta.

armand

Margejka’s musical influences were Western cinema, MTV Europe, and fortuitous cassette tape of American pop/rock legends Little Richard, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley taught Margjeka the fundamentals of rock and roll, and subsequently the English language. The country is however friendly and secure, he has changed Albania for Alabama. He plays indie folk rock with sure hands.

„when people I know ask me what my band is like I tell them, ‘it’s noisy, with keyboards, you wouldn’t like it’”

gentley

Gentle Friendly started when David took some scrapped drums and guitars out of a skip in East-London. Cleaned the instruments and invited Daniel to “come and mess with the stuff” while he played his broken Casio MT-40. Eventually the guitars stayed out of use. Very playful experimental pop. Maybe like the early Animal Collective.
