as BRAT FARRAR running a one-man-punk band
and plays surprisingly various lo-fi punk music.

He said the sound is reminiscent of early Wipers, Chrome, The Spits, Suicide, a bit like My Bloody Valentine (well just the guitars) on a few tracks and sometimes like power pop bands recorded incorrectly.

And even more like his fellow Australian TV Colours. Same feeling.

Here is a fine shoegaze one, bit like My Bloody Valentine

was formed in 1997 by Matador Records employees and a record collector for jamming. Initially having no plans to record or to tour. They played their first live show in 2001 as an opening act for Pavement’s Stephen Malkmus. First LP in 2005. Their new album Vibe Killer out 19 May on No Quarter Records (US)

POWER has been started when three HC/Punk musicians, Penky, Slimy, and Isaac shared their mutual love of the Australian psychedelic hard rock blues group Coloured Balls while sitting in a beer garden during a Melbourne punk show. Right after they started a new band to play in that raw pub rock style as Coloured Balls and others did it in the early 70s. First POWER album Electric Glitter Boogie was released on Cool Death Records in 2015. Re-release out now by In The Red Records (US)

influenced by the 50-60s rhythm and blues, rockabilly, rock and roll and soul,

Company of Strangers

dag

To live on the outskirts, still isolated in the digital age from outside trends and current sounds as Australian musician Dusty Anastassiou. His band is DAG. Dag means the dried faeces left dangling from the wool on a sheep’s rear end, but also refers to being unfashionable, eccentric and fool-like.

Debut album Benefits of Solitude on Bedroom Suck Records (AUS), Omnian Music Group (US) and Cargo Direct (UK)

Not A Bad Choice

Pop like The Pixies, and punk like the Parquet Courts, with such great songs like the aforementioned have.

terry

TERRY is an Aussie quartet with members of such great bands as UV Race, Total Control, Dick Diver, Constant Mongrel or Lower Plenty – and Xanthe Waite sings one of Mick Harvey’s Gainsbourg album.

It has been formed after a Total Control US tour in Mexico City in 2015 when two couples have decided to start a simple and charming pop band that could tour and vacation together. But more telling about that “simple and charming pop” that The Rebel (ex-Country Teasers) was chosen to play with them on their first show in London.

8 GIRLS on 7″ VINYL by TERRY

RECENTLY RELEASED on UPSET THE RHYTHM (UK)

The three songs explores themes of patriarchy in politics, mass consumption versus lifestyle choices and the dating scene. On the cover you can find seven Australian politician women, and one Angela Merkel. They said about

The national identity in Australia is primarily male. Women in the public sphere are expected to take on the characteristics of national identity more so than men. They are also required to prove themselves as Australian women.

Not only are female Australian politicians expected to represent characteristics of national identity they usually also show a greater level of Australian masculinity. It’s a fast track to be taken seriously. But many of the females in power seem to give up common sense.

Some women I have found

Health Minister poor Sussan Ley has resigned after using a taxpayer-funded trip to purchase an A$795,000 (£473,300; $585,200) apartment on Queensland’s Gold Coast in 2015. And also went to New Year parties in 2013 and 2014 on taxpayers’ money.

Lower house speaker Ms Bronwyn Bishop charged taxpayers A$5,000 (£2,300, $3800) to fly by helicopter to a Liberal Party fundraiser in 2015. It was a journey of 65 km (40 miles). At longest one hour with car. And of course she had not just a car, but a driver too, paid by taxpayers, of course. She also claimed expenses for attending weddings, opera and art events. Resigned as speaker, and was defeated on the next election.

Right-wing populist senator Ms Pauline Hanson and her male mate were sentenced to three years imprisonment in 2003 because of false statements about their party members in order to register their organisation in Queensland as a political party, and apply for electoral funding.

In her book, titled The Truth, Ms Hanson predicted that in 2050 Australia would have a lesbian president of Chinese-Indian background called Poona Li Hung who would be a cyborg. No wonder that one of her party candidate, Ms Stephanie Banister, said in an interview that Islam is a country, and the Jews worship Jesus. And she is a graduated woman.

„Money, you got plenty of it
You leave it around your place
Who knows?
You might end up in the bin”

Terry – Bin

*

Ha-ha-ha, those amounts of money are ridiculously tinies. A tip category in the post-communist Hungary. But the rate of stupidity of senator Ms Hanson and Ms Banister is ordinary in the Hungarian policy and public life.

But what is absurd. The almighty Liliputin dictator, Viktor Orbán – aka über führer – , his government and the feudal lords of Hungary have recently made war on the civil society, in order to prevent the organized objection and extirpate the pluralism.

Just like in the pre-Stalinist Hungary in 1947-48, when communist minister of the interior, László Rajk, banned the civil organizations. He ended up on a gallows as the star of a show trial in 1949.

So dear Australian friends you must – how comrade Lenin said – learn, learn, and learn.

Aussie Kitchen Folk Songs

Beautiful, cold, warm, psych, noisey, drunky, urban folk tunes from and by LOWER PLENTY. It is a suburb of Melbourne and also a band

Its members are from e.g. Total Control, The UV Race, Dick Diver or Terry. About their music I could write that sometimes like VU and Nico, but I do not want to write it, so forget it. This song is taken their 4th album Sister, Sister out now on Bedroom Suck Records (AUS). It was recorded in a kitchen of another suburb of Melbourne, Collingwood.

On that place which is today Lower Plenty the first settler was a Hungarian political immigrant Sigismund Wekey in the mid of the 19th century. He was a lawyer, but during the revolutiuon and war of independence of Hungary in 1848/49 he became a captain and adjutant of the political leader Kossuth. After the fall he went to London, learnt mining, and wrote the first Hungarian grammar for the English people.

He arrived in Australia in his late 20s. On the site which is today Lower Plenty he purchased land as a manager of a shareholder company he founded with a vision to start the wine industry of Melbourne, but the company went to bankruptcy within two years. During this time he was the secretary of Philosophical Society (later Philosophical Institute) of state Victoria. But because the cost of the society’s publications were paid by himself for two years finally he resigned.

He also was a correspondent of some journals, later registrar and postmaster of a gold mining town Gaffneys Creek. He applied for patents of some mining machineries, and became a director of the Aladdin and Try-Again United Gold Mining Co., but he was placed under charge of conspiracy with his two co-directors in 1870. He was sentenced and spent one year in gaol where he wrote a pamphlet about the elastic laws and the political corruption which endangered of the liberty of the subject, titled The Institution Of The Land We Live In. After his release he left Australia, travelled around the world with his family, and finally settled in Budapest.

a fucking furniture removalist from Adelaide

“I’m a fucking furniture removalist from Adelaide. I write down-and-out pop songs. I write songs about every job that I do.”

He is Craig Dermody, well, he writes down-and-out pop songs exactly like Parquet Courts. Bored, melanholic, sometimes angry, simple, beautiful. This song is taken from his 3rd album Mid Thirties Single Scene. It has been released in September by Fire Records (UK).

Euro tour is going to start this month: UK, Holland, Germany, Spain, France.

Craig’s band is Scott & Charlene’s Wedding, named about a golden act of an Australian soap oper Neighbours, when Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan got married in 1987.

And here is the old bandcamp page with the old albums, and you can find there his best song Footscray Station.
