Ennek tudatában:
In her music you can find blues punk rock and roll soul gospel and beside conventional instruments a harmonium and sometime a pedal steel guitar:
Some people say her music is a mix of Blondie, Cramps and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. Her singing style is often compared to Patti Smith and Nick Cave. Some years before she toured with Cave as supporting act and backup singer, even he was who released her first EP after her band Happy Hookers disbanded. Even more she recorded her version of Kurt Weil/Bertolt Brecht song Pirate Jenny with Nick Cave and Warren Ellis for a compilation album.
As a child of an Indian immigrant family she learnt to play the piano and harmonium but was banned from western type music but later she became a goth girl. Her first band was the bass-drums-harmonium trio Beat The Devil where she wrote all of music and lyrics already. Her music is so entertainingly eclectic that I felt the need ask about her influences. She says:
I’m proud to say I’m still a sponge in the sense that I can absorb a lot. At the same time with a question like this I never know where to start. I obviously love music my tastes have a fairly wide range. I’d say my biggest influences are the Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, Arthur Lee
Classic Punk, Hip Hop especially old school Hip Hop, Industrial/Noise, Soul, and Old Bollywood music from the 60s and 70s. Lately I’ve been really into Broadcast and Ministry. Ha! Who would ever put those two together? I don’t know, it’s just where I’m at:
I like other forms of art as well. I used to be a dancer so that comes in to play a lot. If I can’t move to my own music then what ‘s the point? I do like to read and do it often but in short form. Something I can get through in one sitting like poetry, essays, short stories rather than a novel. I’ve got a short attention span. I love streaming TV shows. I’m all about it, especially if the writing is witty. I recently watched Fleabag and Killing Eve. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a damn good writer.

Cooking is another big one for me. I love to cook and I love to eat. Most studio engineers I know are big into cooking. It makes sense to me cause making a record and making a well balanced meal is kind of the same thing. Anytime I’m at a mixing session I often wonder if the track has been over spiced. I love going to museums and looking at art. I like the theatre a lot to. This is all starting to sound like a profile on some Tinder app. Are you gonna swipe left or swipe right?

Prophet and provocateur IAN SVENONIUS, the writer of books THE PSYCHIC SOVIET and CENSORSHIP NOW!!, who runs the cynic rock and roll band CHAIN & THE GANG,
in 1990 he was chosen „the most perfect boyfriend material” and got the title „SASSIEST BOY OF AMERICA” by teen girl mag Sassy, next year his Washington DC hc-punk band THE NATION OF ULYSSES released its debut album 13-POINT PROGRAM TO DESTROY AMERICA.
Later he tried to flee marketing culture with his psychedelic gospel group THE MAKE-UP. During their way they were hunted by mysterious government agencies as you can watch it in their film Blue Is Beautiful.
Now this sassiest boy introduces you to the art of ESCAPE-ISM with his brand new poetic one-man rock and roll show and album. This full show was shot in the Hungarian town Szeged this summer at JAZZ KOCSMA somewhere around Mullholland Drive
The album INTRODUCTION TO ESCAPE-ISM
will be released in November on Merge Records (US)

Not trivilal that Piero Ilov (JOH) and Jeff Clarke (SS) are members of Canadaian garage rock band DEMON’S CLAWS.

By Jonathan, SHILPA RAY could be Patti Smith and Iggy Pop love child with Allen Ginsberg as the midwife. Maybe, I do not know, but her new album DOOR GIRL released now, and it is among the best ones this year. She is coming from New York, living in a love and hate relationship with the city where she works as a door girl at Pianos bar. And this door girl tells stories about the city and its people who are living in a big sweet rotting apple like worms.
She has started to write this album after she was rejected by record labels and booking agents because ‘she doesn’t write strong enough hooks.’ ‘Fuck it! You want a strong hook? I’ll give you a fucking strong hook!’ And then she wrote the first song for the album in about an hour or so, really angry.
Musically this record is all digging into what she felt was indigenous from New York City, so a lot of the influences came from doo-wop, punk, noise, hip-hop and no-wave.
This song ‘EMT Police and the Fire Department’ is about a hot summer night at the Pianos when somebody called the ambulance, the cops, and the fire-brigade, and they arrived at the same time
‘It was like one of those nights in the summer when you know there’s a lot of trouble about to happen, because it gets swampy and hot and everybody goes crazy… I’ve definitely seen people fighting in the front. It breaks out in this massive wave: it gradually happens and then somebody calls out some kind of a sexist or racial slur, because they always just go to that… Then the whole place just goes crazy. I’ve definitely seen somebody break a bottle over a guy’s head before over something really stupid.’
UK DATES: 3 > Brighton – Green Door Store, 4 > London – The Social, 5 > Glasgow – 13th Note Cafe, 7 > Gateshead – The Central Bar, 8 > Hull – Adelphi Club

Surprisingly they come from Shanghai, where they were voted for the band of the year two times in a row. Their music is so eclectic and entertaining like Mike Patton’s band Mr. Bungle, but undisputedly punk. The members are American and Italian ex-pats.
Their story has been started when Chachy replaced the American Dream with the Chinese one, and with a big leap moved from Florida to Shanghai. There he has formed his Chinese band ROUND EYE.
His American band was the Libyan Hit Squad. It also was not a simple affair, but was undisputedly punk with such influences as jazz drummer Buddy Rich, free jazz pioneer Ornette Coleman, or the hard rock band Blue Öyster Cult. But ROUND EYE adds two more shovelful of it, so their music is hardly descript, but I try: it is an amazing hardcore punk jazz ska rock and roll doo wop blues surf madhouse.
During the recordings of their first album Stooges saxplayer Steve Mackay joined, and made his final album and tour with them. He died 4 months after the album release, but you can listen to him on ROUND EYE second album Monster Vision too which released this year.
And this summer you can catch them somewhere in Europe

They say: So here is something funny about the signing of the US constitution: There were 55 people who signed it, they were all rich white men. 15 of them owned other people who were forced to do work for them in order to survive, called “slaves”. All 55 of these white men owned land. If you were not a wealthy white man who owned people or land you were definitely not invited to decide what this new country was going to be about. (…) This place was born on a selfish lie. There is nothing to salvage, no great ideals that just got a little skewed. (…) When people defend the USA I think of Stockholm Syndrome. (… So) the first step is knowing, understanding, that this country was not made for you, and it is built on lies and murder.
But in the reality just 39 delegates signed it from the 55, and not 15 rather 25 were slave-owners. At that time the states predominantly limited the voting right to property-owning or tax-paying white males. So they were the people.
But I do not believe that the low-qualified poor would be so honest, unselfish, brave and so on. They just would do the same thing, or worse. Trump and Brexit have come by them.
is primarily the project of recorder player Taylor Ross from The American South. This Rock Band has destroyed The Rock Band in order to build a New Rock Band sourced from Fake Classical / Neo-Baroque stylings. Recorders big and small multi-tracked atop atypical chord progressions”
This is a neo-baroque psych folk pop crank, an easy, bloody fun
from the album „A V” on Leaving Records (US)
But this song shows just one face from the many of the band. Sometimes it seems as if there would be a different band, because „Hey, it’s totally Sonic Youth”; „Oh what is the name of that Czech folk jazz band? They make something similar. Jablkon! That’s right.” And in the next moment it turns into grunge. Just like the Ween.

This year Swiss rock and roll band The Monsters turned into his 30th. The Monsters are such a phenomenon like Motörhead. They also have a very own style. „M” is the 2nd of the 3 anniversary albums. It is a muck pile for trash rockers. Raw, short, fast songs almost without melodies, but with minimlaist lyrics. Exempli gratia
And the penmanship is laudable. Every info is written by hand with blue and red pens. It has brought my self-decorated high school’s books to my mind.
„M” OUT NOW ON VOODOO RHYTHM RECORDS! Anyway the title of the album is taken from Fritz Lang’s film „M”. Here is
Record release tour in November Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Holland, Norway, Belgium.
Az idén 30 éves The Monsters zenekar egy három részes sorozattal (az elsőről itt írtunk) ünnepli meg e jeles évfordulót, és örvendeztet meg minden jóravaló trashrockert. Íme a második kis mocsok halom, a hetedik The Monsters studió album, az ‘M’.
A négy középkorú férfi természetesen a Monsters négy tagja.
Végül is a Monsters olyan jelenség, mint a mondjuk a Motörhead. Nekik isvan egy saját nagyon karakteres stílusuk, és azon belül mozognak lemezről-lemezre ilyen-olyan irányba. Ez most jó töményre sikeredett: a hangzás nyers, a számok rövidek és elég gyorsak, a dallamok szinte teljesen mellőzve, a szövegek a lehető legminimalistábbak (az első három dal szövege a számcím maga párszor elhadarva: Baby you’re my Drug / Dig my Hair / I can’t stop, oszt heló).
A külalak megint csillagos ötös, szaktanári dicsérettel!
