Ennek tudatában:
Danceable noisy electronic beats by Martial Canterel, aka Sean McBride, who is one half of synth-pop duo Xeno & Oaklander. His new album bears very strange title: „Gyors, Lassú”. For the majority of the Universe: it’s in Hungarian; pronunc: diorsh, lushew; means: quick, slow. Sean is a New Yorker, he also loves our hometown, and now living in a small town in Campania, Teano. The album is about these cities, and the wanderings between these. Funny that sometimes he writes in Hungarian on his fb page.
On the cover there is a figure from the so-called Hungarian deck of card: Stüszi vadász (Stüssi hunter), otherwise Tökfilkó, which means Blockhead in the vernacular. Strange fact that on the cards the depicted characters and scenes are taken from Friedrich Schiller’s William Tell. The Swiss figures substitute for Hungarian historical heroes and scenes, because at the time of birth of card (around 1835), Hungary was one province of the Hapsburg Empire, and there was hard censorship.

I can’t find their Euro tour dates nowhere on the net, so here are:

The American musician Saul Conrad plays „hard to categorize”, perhaps „experimental chamber pop” or „other” music on piano and guitar with surprising key changes, nonsensical rhythmic shifts, overlapping melodies, and folk elements.
His third album (read about!) – which is more popular than previous two (listen to!) – was influenced by Kirkegaard and William Blake, Townes van Zandt and Blaze Foley, Harry Nilsson and Syd Barret, and more.

album review
Paths without directions
Eclipse of the haunting icons
Construction without an aim
Rule the thoughtfully arranged game
Revolution without blood
Carrying the cross of the patience as a lug
Ease, experimentation and fury
Standing tall in the gown of liberty
A crawler without a grin
Before the verities had been scratched into the skin
Tried to keep calm
But the wires were shrieking under his fingers burning in napalm
Characters without faces
Ravel out the endless piles
In a race against the clock
Vagabond caravan swirling in burgundy rose petals
Skinny lover without a coyote fur
Creased beer bottles on a velvet seat cover
The princess kept the view
A calm nirvana in the desert of the last Sioux
Prosector without a lancet
Lying on Sunday afternoon’s blanket
Catch the aspects how your face reflects
In the wreath a dozen of singing cats
Paths by now have been woven by The Golden State’s son
Denoting ideas of this aeon
And the configuration slowly became
The seventh rose of the tamed

The Swans were just a band among the highly praised unknown others for me. Of course I heard about them many times, and the opinions were in superlatives. A bad word there wasn’t! So I didn’t care. There were many great bands, unrecognized by others. The Swans came and went often, I stayed at home.

Everything was very all right until the day before yesterday. That day I have begun to edit a long article in reference with Swans. In the beginning I didn’t want to listen to them, but finally yesterday evening I have done it first time ever. It was the brand new album „To Be Kind”. Frightful long tracks, some of them have strange titles. One of them dedicated to the legendary bluesman Howlin’ Wolf! Among the musicians: the new alt-pop diva, St. Vincent; founder of Cop Shoot Cop, Phil Puleo; a black soul from the Canadian call center hell, Al Spx (Cold Specks); Bill Rieflin (Minisrty, RevCo, Lard, KMFDM, Pigface, REM). Come what may, play!
Since I have done it three times. I can speak only in superlatives about it. In the first place their heavy psych-ritual music came Foetus and Lydia Lunch to my mind. In the second place: Neurosis and Nine Inch Nails.
The summit is „Bring the Sun”, a 34 minutes long little symphony about the Black Napoleon, Toussiant L’ouverture, leader of the Haitian Revolution. Haiti was French colony at that time. The revolt rose against the slavery in 1791 under the impact of French Revolution. It was successful, but the free and equal blacks and mulattos had begun to massacre each others without delay in fraternal concord. Toussiant L’ouverture was captured before the final victory, and died at the White Napoleon’s prison in France in 1803.
Some bad words (for security reasons): „She Loves Us” become tedious during its 17 minutes. So if you are in a show, this is the best time to go to pee, buy a beer and smoke something. For instance in this fall on their European tour,
The statistics show that soldiers are in bigger secure than the civilians in Israel. Since January 2012, more than 2,500 rockets and mortars were fired to Israeli civilian area. In 2013, altogether 1271 various terrorist attacks were listed. Between 1989 and 2008 in all 804 people were killed by suicide bombers.
Yuval Haring (v/g): This is kind of like „the hit” in Israel. The world is well lost but let’s lie on the beach and have fun and fall in love because it doesn’t matter. We can just feel whatever we want.

VAADAT CHARIGIM EAST EURO TOUR SEPT
24: Warsaw, 25: Berlin, 26: Prague, 27: Budapest, 28: Linz, 29: Vienna
Vaadat Charigim is one of the best and internationally most well-known Israeli rock bands. They have become famous with their debut album last year. It got unanimous appreciation by international music press. Even the fastidious (or snobbish) NME also gave 8 points from 10 on it.
The style is shoegaze: psychedelic, sometimes melancholic dreamy indie rock, which is hidden behind a distorted guitar curtain. And that guitar curtain is sometimes ruffled by electronic storms. The style has evolved in the British Islands in the 80s. Its greatest bands are the Scottish Jesus & Mary Chain, the Irish My Bloody Valenitne and the Ride from England. In the case of Vaadat Charigim add to this a singer/guitarist, who is blessed with voice of Morrissey and Ian Curtis (Joy Division). So it’s very English, but same time it’s 100% Israeli. And not just because the language is Hebrew. The feelings of the Israeli youth can be perfectly express with the chosen style: the desire for the peace, which is almost unnatural state in that region, where „it’s okay to be afraid.”
„Ein Nehama Ladoachim” (There is No Comfort for the Fading). „The song is kind of about growing up as a promoter in Tel Aviv and watching the scene changing and realizing it’s not the same as when I was young – but maybe it is and I’m just older and maybe I don’t know anything. I used to organize a lot of shows on rooftops and that disappeared. And we don’t have basement shows like they do in the States. because we don’t have basements. We have bomb shelters.”
The clip was shot in Tel Aviv first shopping mall, the Ditzengoff Center. Its construction began in 1972, but the mall was finished just in 1983. (Very Hungarian style pace.) In 1996, 13 people were killed there in a suicide bombing attack by a Hamas terrorist.

Chaotic but melodic garage punk rock and roll with a little power pop edge. Their records were released on such labels as Burger, Suicide Squeeze, Volar or Goodbye Boozy Records. Their shows are incredible experience of rock and roll.
Kyle Gibson: As a kid I remember seeing my sister’s boyfriend’s Damned Damned Damned record and being intrigued by the wild looking people on the cover. Also my sister had an X Ray Spex shirt and came home from college with a computer with a bunch of songs by The Stooges, Buzzcocks, and Bikini Kill on her computer. That was when I felt a cool personal connection to bands/music. So really a computer and t shirts made me want to play music.
Audacity Euro Tour: Aug 28 – Sept 27: Germany, Sweden, Norway, Holland, Poland, Czech, Hungary, Austria, Italy, France, Belgium, UK
At the time, back in the early seventies the Vietnam war was still raging, Susan Dietrich and her husband Joel and their tiny daughter were political exiles, living like refugees in the States. Joel would be imprisoned for having resisted the draft. For nine years they had subsisted on spare change and meager sales of their artwork on the streets. Finding a dilapidated, old accordion in a junk store was the major cause in turning her life around. And “the Space Lady began her odyssey on the streets of San Francisco in the late 70s, playing an accordion and dressed flamboyantly, transmitting messages of peace and harmony. Following the theft of her accordion, she invested in a then-new Casio keyboard…” and plays minimal prog lo-fi space pop.
