A ZU egy 1999-ben alakult olasz dob, basszus, szaxofon trió. „Tomaraya is our Elvis” című számukkal lopták be magukat szívembe. Idén megjelent 80 perces! FERRUM SIDEREUM című sokadik lemezüket mutatják be. Ez a lemezük sem okozott csalódást. Azt kapod, amit vársz: avantgarde metal doom jazz noise hardcore zúzást. Sokat elmond róluk, hogy kikkel kollaboráltak pályafutásuk során. Például Mike Patton + King Buzzo (The Melvins), Eugene Chadbourne, FM Einheit, Mats Gustafsson, Ruins, Damo Suzuki, Current 93, Dalek, az EX vagy a Locust tagjai. Egyik rajongójuk, John Zorn, mondta róluk: „powerful and expressive music that totally blows away what most bands do these days”
ÁPRILIS 8-ÁN BUDAPESTEN AZ A38-ON.

1. Trip-hop acid folk under jazz attack. On the one hand the story has begun in 1979 when Ágnes Zsigmondi – singer of Hungarian underground folk band Kolinda – illegally left her homeland and went to live in Paris because her band’s music was not suit for the Hungarian one party state standards so they could not published any records while they released albums in France where she met American jazz drummer (of Sam Rivers and Archie Shepp) Stephen McCraven. Their son MAKAYA McRAVEN was born there in 1983 and has become a drummer. His new mixtape album HIGHLY RARE released now. It was recorded „just days after the death sentence of the American presidential election” when INTERNATIONAL ANTHEM RECORDS invited some jazz musicians into a bar in Cihacgo to play in support of sets by Belgian DJ LeFtO

6. BACK TO THE ROOTS OF INDIE POP
„The great liberating album for our generation was London Calling by the Clash. At a time when the post-punk mob seemed to be removing more color, texture, and beauty from their music with every passing week, London Calling was a revelation, taking us back to reggae and soul and everything that was possible” – said Pat Fish
who formed the band JAZZ BUTCHER in Northampton in 1982 when a friend lent him a compilation album of 70s soul hits, he got a vision of a new way forward, and wrote the song “Partytime”, a three-and-a-half-minute repudiation of post-punk’s sonic and verbal tendencies toward deadly seriousness.
They made four albums for Glass Records between 1983 and 1986. The jacket notes on the dusty tome that recalls this period mentions private detective television series Randall And Hopkirk (Deceased), Thatcher, DIY post-punk, LSD, surrealist cabaret, The Velvet Underground, a bottle of Cointreau or two, the Amstrad 7090 and Ronco’s ‘Black Magic’ compilation. These first four were released in a box set as THE WASTED YEARS on FIRE RECORDS this year October. And now here are the four VIOLENT YEARS in a box set that compiles their next four albums, originally released on Creation Records between 1988 and 1991. The song Looking For Lot 49 is taken from their ’88 album Fishcotheque.
In 1995 they retired in protest against Britpop, American actor Chris Evans and their own frustrating inability to unseat the government of John Major. But nowadays they play as the Jazz Butcher Quartet with ace trumpeter Simon Taylor. Next show > March 1st London 100 Club

8. Italian artist Giovanni Dal Monte aka LA JOVENC from the other side of music. One of his albums “Birds make love with electric ladybugs” initially was imagined as an exhibition of photographs of insects and landscapes and the entire music was composed using samples of insect and bird sounds. But now here is a transposition of an ode from his brand new album MATER on SONATA BOTANICA and ATMOSPHERE RECORDS which contains transcripts of midi scores of renaissance music of Palestrina, De Pres, Ockeghem, Taverner, Encina, Lemlin, etc. It reminds me Laibach’s Bach cover album Kunst der Fuge.

10. THE GREEN CHILD is the collaborative project of Mikey Young from Aussie new wave punk Total Control and Raven Mahon from American indie garage rock Grass Widow. The band’s name was inspired by Herbert Read’s 1935 utopian, anarcho-communist sci-fi novel called The Green Child. The story begins in 1861 with the faked death of President Olivero, dictator of the South American Republic of Roncador, who has staged his own assassination. He returns to his native England, to the village where he was born and raised. On the evening of his arrival Olivero notices that the stream running through the village appears to be flowing backwards, and he decides to follow the water upstream to discover the cause. The stream’s course leads Olivero to a mill, where through a lighted window he sees a woman tied to a chair, forced by the miller to drink the blood of a freshly slaughtered lamb. But at this moment we are under of influence of 80s synth pop on a cold, foggy and rainy day when their debut album released on UPSET THE RHYTHM RECORDS (UK)

Finnish jazz drummer OLAVI LOUHIVUORI – who is best known for his post jazz rock group Oddarrang – starts his five album project IMMEDIATE MUSIC to explore the limits of freedom in music with different ensembles from album to album. On the first album he is joined by Pekko Käppi on bowed lyre and Teemu Korpipää on synthesizer and sound effects. Result: space storms with solar flares.

Ostensibly it is a chronicle of Quintron’s last European tour, but the book is just as much about the myriad illusions of American identity. The tales are funny and thrilling and mostly true and someone almost dies on every page.
“If Dr. Frankenstein were working with raw material from Madame Curie, Delia Derbyshire, James Brown, and Wilhelm Reich, the result might be something like QUINTRON. Underground inventor, composer, record maker, impresario, and performer par excellence. There is nothing and no one like him and this is his first book and it’s a gas!” – said Ian Svenonious – musician: Nation Of Ulysses, The Make-Up, Chain & The Gang, Escape-ism, and writer.
Quintron is a nightclub organist (and member of Gary Wrong Group) who runs an electronics repair shop/recording studio called Spellcaster Lodge in New Orleans. He invented a mechanically-rotating, light-activated drum machine called Drum Budy. His current project is centered around a weather-controlled synthesizer he made called WEATHER WARLOCK designed to produce mellow, healing tones, randomly modulated by sun, rain, wind, and temperature.
WEATHER WARLOCK also is a band. Their first album Sunset Waits For No Man was recorded with Weather Warlock on the Gulf Coast with Quintron, Aaron Hill (EYEHATEGOD, Missing Monuments), Gary Wrong (Wizzard Sleeve, Vatican Dagger) together with two New Orleans free jazz sax players to glue this mass of southern scum rock:
Weather Warlock’s second album Headless Falcon was made by the core group with with a handful of local musicians in Abu Dhabi.

3.
1. We never published any records.
2. We are support band only.
3. We play just slow songs.
4. No band photo!
were the basic ideas of British punk band Mekons when it started, but before their first gig in a punk festival the organizer told them – Fast songs or there is no show for you. So they played on double speed. After the show a man went to them and said: – Hey you are really great, I would like to release a single. Later when NME wanted a picture they went to a field and somebody made some shots from miles. After reject they built figures from coat hangers and took photos of them. Finally a photographer was sent by the music mag to crown the failure.
More later Mekons guitarist Jon Langford moved to Chicago in 1992 and discovered the similarities of country and punk, and formed alternative country bands as Waco Brothers (with a former Revolting Cocks and KMFDM member!) and Pine Valley Cosmonauts. Now here is his brand new album with FOUR LOST SOULS on BLOODSHOT RECORDS

16. – In a sense the rock was a new teenage religion of consumerism, designed by the ruling class to replace the outmoded Christian faith of antipleasure which had been so useful to them since the feudal age. The juvenile delinquent was the true believer of his new faith. Thus rock was impatient, lustful, fast, and rowdy

Once upon a time somewhere in a disintegrating country which have been defeated by mass stupidity there is a little DIY record label OneC Records. They are interested in punk/experimental rock, and released such first class bands as The Pheromoans, Ivan The Tolerable, Bilders, Queer’d Science or Year Of Birds. Or GAD WHIP, a strange post punk no wave band

A track from the new album, a particular combination of drums, double bass, synth, vocals
It will be released 01 July 2016.

The new songs of Purling Hiss come to Dinosaur Jr to my mind, but this Philadelphian trio is better. I can’t endure J. Masics’ mewing.

Thank God, less experiment and more music by Dan Melchior and Walker Russel (Pheromoans). „Kraut-influenced space rock.” Maybe, I don’t know.

“Pere Ubu is mainstream rock. Justin Timberlake is weird experimental music. Robbie Williams is avant-garde. Britney Spears is constantly coming up with something new and innovative. Pere Ubu does the same old thing. ‘New’ is a trap and a scam to dupe student-types and other naive people.”*
Pere Ubu is a band. It was formed in Cleveland in the mid-70s after the break-up of garage rock band Rockets From The Tombs. The most famous RFTT song is the Sonic Reducer. It would be a punk anthem by The Dead Boys, which was formed by the one half of RFTT.
Pere Ubu plays experimental rock. The only constant member is David Thomas. On his albums he has talked nonsene about art of walking and sleep walk, barking dogs and horses, guitars and girls, clouds and weather, honey moon and Monday morning, Steve and Michele, Heaven and Hell, ice cream truck and stolen Cadillac, the flames over Nebraska and winter in the Firelands, and so on until 414 seconds.
The moon and the monkeys are the two main motifs of the new Pere Ubu album Carnival of Souls. But you can also find there e.g. Greyhounds, maps, stars, love and duck. But if all these wouldn’t be tempting enough for you, a number of the songs were developed from an underscore composed for the classic B-category horror movie Carnival of Souls.
