1. Two from The Flying Luttenbachers formed short-lived Chicago no-wave band MY NAME IS RAR-RAR in 2000. Later vocalist of Xerobot joined them. And later their drummer formed XADDAX with post-hardcore math rock band Dazzling Killmen guitarist. MY NAME IS RAR-RAR recorded their first album in 2003 but broke up before mixing it. Now this fuckin funny split 7″ EP brings a pair of newly mixed and mastered tracks from that final recording session together with two new XADDAX songs on SKIN GRAFT RECORDS (US). And this is the premiere of the song „One”

2. „post punk rock psychedelic now country sometimes disco indie rock and roll”. I take the risk that I wrote this about JAZZ BUTCHER during the listening of their 1989 album BIG PLANET SCARY PLANET from the 4 albums box set reissue series THE VIOLENT YEARS on FIRE RECORDS (UK). But before there were THE WASTED YEARS. Anyway if you want to know more about them you can find more in KILLBONOCLUB 10
3. French SCANERS play punk rock and roll like Ramones, Dickies, Devo, Suicide, Spits, Les Thugs just somewhere between the 4th and 5th dimensions. Debut album very soon album on Dirty Water UK and a bunch of French labels: Adrenalin Fix Music, Casbah Records, Dangerhouse Skylab, Teenage Hate Records, Strychnine Recordz and Trokson Records

4. Komodina 3 was a Greek band. Everybody knows them but nobody saw them to play. Like the band Ghost Train (or Kummitusjuna) in the film Zombie & The Ghost Train by Finnish director Mika Kaurismaki which is among my favorites. The story of Komodina 3 started n 2005 in Thessaloniki. Some musicians recorded an album, made 80 CD copies, hand-delivered them to some local men of taste. But they didn’t drive to their only show because was too cold out. Seven years after the owner of Slovenly Records heard his CD in a van during the euro tour of his label’s two Greek bands, Bazooka and Gay Anniversary, and he released it. One of them started electro-punk solo career as NOMOS 751. Debut album on SLOVENLY RECORDS (US)
5. French drum duet DEUX BOULES VANILLE triggering analogic synthesizers, making grindcore constructions, techno and dub improvisations. Idiotic music. Danceable. New album PLANET GOUGOU on KYTHIBONG RECORDS soon.
6. For twenty years API UIZ was a polyrhythmic multicolored punky math rock-like trio from Bordeaux. They have influenced an entire generation of French musicians by their ferociously independent way they play and produce “raw, unworked, but structured music” which was the title of their debut album. Since 2015 API UIZ is a quintet. PEPLUM, their first album with the extended line-up released now on 12″ vinyl on Kythibong, Les Potagers Natures, Mon Cul C’est Du Tofu, La République Des Granges, Attila Tralala (Belgium) and Red Wig Records (Germany)
7. LADY BIRD is a movie about a young, rebellious woman living in Sacramento, California and the constraints studying at a Catholic high school. Its soundtrack was composed by JON BRION who can be known from bands like The Excerpts, The Bats, and The Grays or his film scores from eg Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The Lady Bird soundtrack will be released soon for the first time on vinyl via FIRE SOUNDTRACKS (UK) and LAKESHORE RECORDS (US). It’s a strange big puzzle of different melancholic moods. Anyway Brion is featured as keyboardist and drummer on Marianne Faithfull’s 2003 album, Kissin Time, and co-wrote a song, „City of Quartz”, for her next work, 2005’s Before the Poison.
8. Crazy, chaotic, frantic, but melodic Spanish garage rock and roll band WAU Y LOS ARRRGHS!!! released a sold out in a flash 7″ single on their farewell gig last year. Out again on 2 Feb on SLOVENLY RECORDS!
9.

The Spanish Sinner bros with Carmelo Tornado formed the punk band HOLLYWOOD SINNERS. Album KHÖME KAKKÄ released now on DIRTY WATER RECORDS. At first I did not like it. I don’t understand why, because during the 3rd listening I found – Hey, this is fucking good! Since I love them.
10. Dirty, filthy rock n roll with a dark sense of humour from New Zealand by THE CAVEMEN. Debut album first time on vinyl with two bonus tracks: „Swamp Thing” + „Juvenile Delinquent” on DIRTY WATER RECORDS (UK)
11. A fresh indie-pop hit song from Sweden with cold by HATER. Red Blinders EP released on FIRE RECORDS
12. RIK & THE PIGS: nothing special just total punk. A CHILD GATOR album on TOTAL PUNK RECORDS (US)
13. Bad dream pop by New Yorker movie maker ALEXEI SISHKIN. New album, on cassette by FORGED ARTIFACTS (US)
14. The hymnic song Still Alive celebrates the present and welcomes the unknown by Scottish indie pop band THE SPOOK SCHOOL, but they are punks just like the Buzzcocks or Joanna Gruesome, but with a transgender with a beautiful moustache, and this is what a simple woman can’t.
COULD IT BE DIFFERENT? album on ALCOPOP (UK) and SLUMBERLAND (US)
15. DRIFT is the seventh full-length by NYC rock polymaths THE MEN. Release soon on SACRED BONES RECORDS. Collaborators: Delicate Steve on guitars, Parker Kindred (Antony & The Johnsons, Jeff Buckley) on drums, and Chris Coady (Beach House) as producer.
16. Nowadays Glasgow based alien-obsessed hyperactive girl KEEL HER plays high standard lo-fi sometimes noisy outsider bedroom pop alone. But with her band! It’s a revelation. Just like the Breeders were in the 90s. I know it. I was there with 28 lucky ones to see them on 22 Dec in Refugee Info Bus Fundraising Party at DIY SPACE FOR LONDON

17. MOON DUO worked up a version of ‘Jukebox Babe’ because their sound engineer Larry got it stuck in his head and was singing it all the time. And on the other side of the EP there is No Fun for the the 70th birthday of Iggy Pop. Released on SACRED BONES
18. Psychedelic ambient country band SUSS members have worked in various capacities with Lydia Lunch, the B-52s, Rubber Rodeo, k.d. Lang, David Bowie, John Cale, Wilco, Norah Jones, The War On Drugs, Burt Bacharach, and countless others. Their debut album GHOST BOX is a trip in the mid-western desert. It’s not psychedelic, it’s hallucinogen.
19. I am very surprised. I did not wait for anything special, but this is an exceptionally good album – writing this during the second track of first listening. Who is she: RUBY BOOTS? Scottish and Italian descent Australian-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter inspired by country, blues, and rock. This time her backing band is TEXAS GENTLEMEN who plays „Timeless American Music for fans of The Band, The Swampers, and Willie Nelson.”
Album DON’T TALK ABOUT IT released on BLOODSHOT RECORDS (US)
20. THE GOON MAT AND LORD BENARDO: Adrenaline and alcohol fused primal boogie mayhem from Liege, Belgium. Formerly they played as Stinky Lou and the Goon mat and lord Benardo, but Stinky left the band to open Lou’s Bar. New album TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES on VOODOO RHYTHM RECORDS (CH)
21.
“Come on baby let’s rock!
Well, OW! Woo! Ah! Ah!
Aaaah-ooo!”
It has started in Boston in 1983 when punk rock guitarist Peter Greenberg decided to form an instrumental rock and roll band, but Barry White upset his plans when he began unexpectedly singing at the record store where they worked.
Yes, Barry White, who was 11 in 1966 when his uncle took him to see the James Brown Revue and „that was my first witness of a fantastic show. (…) all the girls were screaming and the guys were going AAAHHH!!! It was wild. It was probably the biggest moment of my life – said the frontman Barrence Whitfield who was born as Barry White who after the gospel choir became a drummer, and played funk, soul and prog rock music.
After two albums the original line-up of BARRENCE WHITFIELD & THE SAVAGES disbanded in 1986 because of Greenberg and the bassist moved on, but Barrence rebuilt and kept alive the band until 1994. The three core member reunited in 2010 and now soon here is the new album SOUL FLOWERS OF TITAN. It was inspired by the cosmic outlook of Sun Ra and elaborates on the Cincinnati-based King Records and Federal Records sounds of the 1950s-‘60s.

1. Trip-hop acid folk under jazz attack. On the one hand the story has begun in 1979 when Ágnes Zsigmondi – singer of Hungarian underground folk band Kolinda – illegally left her homeland and went to live in Paris because her band’s music was not suit for the Hungarian one party state standards so they could not published any records while they released albums in France where she met American jazz drummer (of Sam Rivers and Archie Shepp) Stephen McCraven. Their son MAKAYA McRAVEN was born there in 1983 and has become a drummer. His new mixtape album HIGHLY RARE released now. It was recorded „just days after the death sentence of the American presidential election” when INTERNATIONAL ANTHEM RECORDS invited some jazz musicians into a bar in Cihacgo to play in support of sets by Belgian DJ LeFtO

6. BACK TO THE ROOTS OF INDIE POP
„The great liberating album for our generation was London Calling by the Clash. At a time when the post-punk mob seemed to be removing more color, texture, and beauty from their music with every passing week, London Calling was a revelation, taking us back to reggae and soul and everything that was possible” – said Pat Fish
who formed the band JAZZ BUTCHER in Northampton in 1982 when a friend lent him a compilation album of 70s soul hits, he got a vision of a new way forward, and wrote the song “Partytime”, a three-and-a-half-minute repudiation of post-punk’s sonic and verbal tendencies toward deadly seriousness.
They made four albums for Glass Records between 1983 and 1986. The jacket notes on the dusty tome that recalls this period mentions private detective television series Randall And Hopkirk (Deceased), Thatcher, DIY post-punk, LSD, surrealist cabaret, The Velvet Underground, a bottle of Cointreau or two, the Amstrad 7090 and Ronco’s ‘Black Magic’ compilation. These first four were released in a box set as THE WASTED YEARS on FIRE RECORDS this year October. And now here are the four VIOLENT YEARS in a box set that compiles their next four albums, originally released on Creation Records between 1988 and 1991. The song Looking For Lot 49 is taken from their ’88 album Fishcotheque.
In 1995 they retired in protest against Britpop, American actor Chris Evans and their own frustrating inability to unseat the government of John Major. But nowadays they play as the Jazz Butcher Quartet with ace trumpeter Simon Taylor. Next show > March 1st London 100 Club

8. Italian artist Giovanni Dal Monte aka LA JOVENC from the other side of music. One of his albums “Birds make love with electric ladybugs” initially was imagined as an exhibition of photographs of insects and landscapes and the entire music was composed using samples of insect and bird sounds. But now here is a transposition of an ode from his brand new album MATER on SONATA BOTANICA and ATMOSPHERE RECORDS which contains transcripts of midi scores of renaissance music of Palestrina, De Pres, Ockeghem, Taverner, Encina, Lemlin, etc. It reminds me Laibach’s Bach cover album Kunst der Fuge.

9. Really heavy metal duo THE BODY & very hardcore band FULL OF HELL play smelter ambient music on their collaborative album ASCENDING A MOUNTAIN OF HEAVY LIGHT with some guests like drummer Brian Chippendale (Lightning Bolt, Black Pus) on THRILL JOCKEY RECORDS (US)

10. THE GREEN CHILD is the collaborative project of Mikey Young from Aussie new wave punk Total Control and Raven Mahon from American indie garage rock Grass Widow. The band’s name was inspired by Herbert Read’s 1935 utopian, anarcho-communist sci-fi novel called The Green Child. The story begins in 1861 with the faked death of President Olivero, dictator of the South American Republic of Roncador, who has staged his own assassination. He returns to his native England, to the village where he was born and raised. On the evening of his arrival Olivero notices that the stream running through the village appears to be flowing backwards, and he decides to follow the water upstream to discover the cause. The stream’s course leads Olivero to a mill, where through a lighted window he sees a woman tied to a chair, forced by the miller to drink the blood of a freshly slaughtered lamb. But at this moment we are under of influence of 80s synth pop on a cold, foggy and rainy day when their debut album released on UPSET THE RHYTHM RECORDS (UK)

1. We never published any records.
2. We are support band only.
3. We play just slow songs.
4. No band photo!
were the basic ideas of British punk band Mekons when it started, but before their first gig in a punk festival the organizer told them – Fast songs or there is no show for you. So they played on double speed. After the show a man went to them and said: – Hey you are really great, I would like to release a single. Later when NME wanted a picture they went to a field and somebody made some shots from miles. After reject they built figures from coat hangers and took photos of them. Finally a photographer was sent by the music mag to crown the failure.
More later Mekons guitarist Jon Langford moved to Chicago in 1992 and discovered the similarities of country and punk, and formed alternative country bands as Waco Brothers (with a former Revolting Cocks and KMFDM member!) and Pine Valley Cosmonauts. Now here is his brand new album with FOUR LOST SOULS on BLOODSHOT RECORDS

I have got the DARLENE SHRUGG debut album from the English label UPSET THE RHYTHM with the remark that it will certainly like to me. I thought of course when I saw that American art pop artist Meg Remy – aka U.S.Girls – makes music together again her husband the Canadian art rock artist Slim Twig, and I like their music very much. And Toronto based synth pop duo Ice Cream also involved in the project DARLENE SHRUGG which started as a duo of long time collaborators Slim Twig and Simone TB of Fake Palms and more. I added these info and tried to imagine their music before listening, and I was totally surprised

The Mallissimal Movement born in the 50’s in St-Petersburg by self-taught Russian musicians who took an interest in old Siberian sacred rituals. The French CERCLE DES MALLISSIMALISTES is devoted to the research, preservation and diffusion of Mallissimal Music. Recently they recorded a work of an Italian far-leftist terrorist and composer Faustina M. Todesco who left the Music School of Milan before graduating to join The Red Brigades. It formed in 1970 and sought to create a „revolutionary” state through armed struggle. They attained notoriety in the 1970s and early 80s with their violent attempts to destabilise Italy by acts of sabotage, bank robberies and kidnappings. Their most infamous act was kidnapping and murdering ex-PM Aldo Moro in 1975. But Faustina M. Todesco quit from the organization in 1974 and fled the western world and left activism for mysticism. Later she killed herself in the river Seine. But I don’t believe these things. I think these are just the game of the fantasy, but I like them. And as always in the Mallissimal Movement, the matter is electro-acoustic trance.

For many years, LYDIA LUNCH has envisioned a collective dedicated to funeral arts. That seed was finally planted in 2012 when The Phantom Family Halo supported Lunch’s Retrovirus’ US tour. Lydia spotted Dahm of Phantom Family Halo wearing an undertaker jacket while performing in NYC. It has turned out that Dahm Majuri Cipolla, a descendant of Edgar Allen Poe, has been interested in undertaking and the funeral arts since a young boy. It is of no surprise that he spent his formative years inhabiting a funeral home in Louisville, KY where he fell in love with our in-house mortician, Sara Majuri Cipolla. And this picture! I’ve found it recently. Oh how I like this

It was shot by the police during a general raid in Budapest in 1972.
Lots of pictures from the same raid. A travel through the night. Through pubs and streets and bars and restaurants and taverns. Meet every kind of figures, even a police dog. And finally go to the police station by a paddy-waggon.
Do you know Luca? The colourful Italian musician from The Ultra Twist, Trio Banana, Trans Upper Egypt, Duodenum, Centauri, and RAWWAR? Who also is a visual artist who made clips for Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, Country Teasers and a lot of others. And has collages too:

I tried to continue to play with bands in Rome: Trans Upper Egypt, Trio Banana and Duodenum, but it was too difficult, so I quit TUE, ‘cause I didn’t enjoy more. Trio Banana is on-standby, we never really quit but we can’t play together now. But Duodenum is a very hard band to play often.

Number 71 Monobanda, the man who plays with me, got many bands too, and he lives between Napoli and Rome. Very hard to meet each other in a year, but we are like brothers, so for us play is something more than make gigs and shows. Duodenum will never quit.
In Milano I have started my solo project Tab_ularasa 2-3 years ago. I did many records and tape and maybe too many gigs around Italy. That’s my main project now, and I’m working on a new record. It will be very experimental and different from records done before. Hope to finish soon and to put out it after summer.
Tab_ularasa make punk/folk for children and crazy people. I play alone only with guitar and sing very weird songs in Italian. In the end of 2016 I have gone back to my countryside in Tuscany and I will stay here this year.
PALI: You have got a new band RAWWAR after Trio Banana split.
LUCA: Like I said before, Trio Banana never really split and maybe we will play in the future, but not now. But Trio Banana’s drummer Gabriele Doctor Dead and I never stop to play. When I come back to Rome we play in a rehearsal room. At the start we didn’t want to make a new band to make gigs but only keep to play together, have fun, write new songs and make records.
PALI: You and Dr Dead from Trio Banana, but who is your second guitar player, please introduce him!
LUCA: After few practices we did 9 songs and a cover (Don’t Make Me Kill Again from Urinals) then we decided to make records. I spoke about that with Michele Zufux from Ferrara, one of my best old friend from Ultra Twist time. He was in a fucking great band called Larsen. They’re almost unknown, but for me Larsen is one of the best Italian bands ever. Now he plays in For Food and Dead Horses also from Ferrara, different style of music but really great stuff. We spoke in chat about that, I sent him our songs, he liked them so much that I asked to join us with his guitar to record. We were in Ferrara on a weekend last October. We never play together before, and we recorded three songs of the 1st RAWWAR tape. It was a magic day, we did everything live with only two microphones like a live gig, so we were lucky too.

Some week later Alessandro, a new friend from Teramo, did a very great master and we put out the tape on Bubca Records last March. We wanted to make a 7” but was not money, and maybe there would have been even no sense, ‘cause we don’t play so much live. We live far each other and even here in Italy the situation is quite sad for a band who play garage/punk… There is a kind of little “mafia” to book gigs, and obviously we’re not inside that stuff. The bigger festivals prefer to give a lot of money to American mythological dead bands from the 90s instead to make a cool garage/punk underground festival with new bands. They live in the past. Here in Italy the majority of “underground” people live in the past. This is not punk/rock for me. I always hope to discover, listen and see new bands. Otherwise I’m just so happy to make this tape, to play music with my friends and that’s all. If people will ask us to play it would be better, but if not, nessun problema, we will keep playing in some garages that we enjoy much than play in a shitty venue or festival.
PALI: Not long ago RAWWAR put out its debut tape on your own Bubca Records. Those three songs remind me something like Cheater Slicks between Country Teasers and a bit like early Demon’s Claws. It’s rawer and more direct and less psychedelic than TRIO BANANA was. What do you think?
LUCA: From the start Gabriele and I wanted to make something more weird and repetitive like the old blues/punk stuff. The bands that you mentioned are some of my favorites, but we have tried to find our way to play RAW the primordial blues like did Cheater Slicks, Country Teasers and Demon’s Claws. We like so much Can’s first album, Velvet Underground’s weird stuff, Gun Club. We love too Neu, Oneida’s first records and so many other stuff, but when you make music you have to try to find your own way.
PALI: Please talk about the process of recording. I think you like to do everything as basic as you can.
LUCA: Sure! We recorded in this way ‘cause we did not even time to make it in a different way. I didn’t recorded RAWWAR, Mauro from For Food & Dead Horses helped us and Michele did the rest. We used a cheap multitrack recorder with two mics and we set the level of sounds just before start. I have learned lo-fi tricks from Falconx, the guru who has made my theremin and recorded many garage records in the 80s. If you want warmer sounds and really feel the people’s energy who play then the best way to record everything live, even the voice too. Sure it’s more difficult, ‘cause you have to know and try where put the mics, how sounds moving at the place where you record, and mostly you have to be lucky because when you play at high volume you can generate shitty feedbacks and distortions. Here in Italy we said “La Fortuna aiuta gli audaci”, I think in English they say: “Fortune favours the bold”, and maybe there is a Hungarian version too. (Of course: „Bátraké a szerencse.”) This time we were very lucky… hope next time too.

PALI: And your copy technic is unique I think hahaha! Do you buy some shitty tapes on a flea market and copy your music on it? How do you do this?
LUCA: Almost from the start, Bubca Records make tapes using second hand/recycled tapes. Now vinyl seems new fashion. There are some shitty dynamics to make it but if you don’t book a Euro tour it does not make a sense at all to print it. Making tapes it’s a kind of new little fashion, but it seems like to live in the past. CD is dead, the new world goes in a different way. Maybe we should discover new way to pass underground music. The task of the avant-garde in art has always been be ahead, but now young people make new stuff and invent things from very young age for multinational factories. The few people who make true DIY garage/punk stuff are like dinosaurs. We are dinosaurs, we’re going to extinct soon. I don’t care about that, I’m keeping to make my stuff but I hate nerd punks who think that the old way to make records is the True & Sacred. They are the Worst! For me, make records with second hand tapes is a kind of ironic action, and I don’t want to pollute the world with new plastic too, the worlds is already polluted enough. I find tapes in some flea markets and when I duplicate stuff I do not delete the end of the original music, so if you don’t like RAWWAR you can listen Laura Pausini, Tiziano Ferro, Adriano Celentano or classic music. Cheers!
PALI: You do all of artwork as well. Do you have got own copy machine?
LUCA: Yeah, I make artwork, collage or draw for my records. If I make a record for other bands I always ask them about the artwork, if they do not want to make it, then I do it. Almost all old Bubca Records stuff is a B/W xerox copy, but we did some colour cover too. Our first coloured cover was made for the first Trio Banana EP “Baby Save My Soul”. If a collage or a draw is colored we keep it coloured. I don’t have own copy machine, I just go to a cheap copy shop. To get a copy machine and buy ink is more expensive.
PALI: You booked last year a mini tour for The Rebel. How was that? What kind of guy Ben Wallers? I think he is one of the weirdest guys nowadays in the R’n’R underground. Is it right?

LUCA: Make a tour with Ben was one of the best things done last years. Ben is not so weird as he seems, he’s very kind, smart and cool guy. Making music is the most important thing in his life, like for me, so we have become true friends. I hope to make new tour with him sooner or later.
PALI: Please talk about the last few Bubca Records release!
LUCA: We’re not so active now as we were before, but I’m trying to keep Bubca alive. Before RAWWAR, the last record was Pist Idiots, an amazing new young band from Australia. I love them!
PALI: What are you main active project now?
LUCA: Main project is my solo project Tab_ularasa, but I hope to play more often with RAWWAR, Centauri and Duodenum. I enjoy more playing in a band that alone.
PALI: Please recommend us few cool Italian bands what are active now and you really like!
LUCA: My favorite Italian band is For Food from Ferrara. I love them from the start, they play furious noisy post punk music. Great songs, great atmospheres. They are true friends. Their first record is a masterpiece.
PALI: Future plans with RAWWAR? Anyway it’s a cool name! So rad.
LUCA: The name of the band was an idea from Michel. I suggested The Hobos but that sucks. Gabriele got no idea about that. Michele told us RAWWAR and then we were thinking: “AMAZING!!”. You can say RAWWAR like the lion of Metro Goldwyn Mayer does before an old Hollywoodian movie: ROUUUAURRR!!!
PALI: What’s your favorite local liquor?
LUCA: My favorite local liquor is a kind of stuff that you drink here after eating a lot. It’s called Nocino. It’s a walnut liquor made by monks, but not easy to find real Nocino. The best I had was in Teramo countryside last week!
Thanx Pali, I hope to come back soon in Budapest to play.

Eleven souls I’ve left to slay
Eleven lightyears deep in space
I’m the lord of Arcturus
Another hour to live in vain
The ship of fools in stellar haze
I’m the lord of Arcturus
They’re all dead in the cities
I alone heard their cries
I’m the lord of Arcturus
– A helyes megfejtés:
Arcturus, nagy vörös csillag 36.7 fényévre. A név jelentése: medve őr.
Mit is mondhatnék, köszönöm.
A gonoszság pár felvillanását írtam bele.
