One year in penitentiary and bad conduct discharge was the sentence of Navy’s Court Martial in the fraudulent enlistment case of 15 years old Andre Williams, who was born in 1936, Alabama. „Kiss-my-ass-mother-fuckers!” was his response. Right after his discharge he went to Detroit with 25 dollars in his pocket. The day of the coming he entered for a talent show, afternoon wrote a song and won. His first hit was Bacon Fat in 1956 on Fortune Records
Then he worked with Motown Records as a producer too. About the Swiss Music Prize nominate Reverend Beat-Man
The harmonica player Walter Daniels and guitarist John Schooley have been shadowy figures in the rock n’ roll underground for a combined forty years. Daniels was mixing blues with punk rock as far back as 1992 with Austin, Texas combo Jack O’ Fire, alongside the Big Boys’ Tim Kerr. He recorded with the Oblivians the Melissa’s Garage Revisited LP (1999), but recorded and performed live with everyone from James Williamson to Eugene Chadbourne, most recently lending his harp to the OBN III’s for their latest album. John Schooley is known as a root rock’n’roll one man band (but he is also member in The Revelators). His first single was among Goner’s first records, and another cult label, Voodoo Rhythm also released his records. It’s a meaningful fact that he toured with blues legend R.L. Burnside as his guitarist.

Now the two together on one, exclusively acoustic album, titled Dead Mall Blues. It’s mainly a selection from the American songbook. 8 from the 10 songs
We Got To Meet Death One Day by Blind Willie McTell (1898-59)
Poor Willie lost his eyesight in his childhood. Soon after lost his father, then his mother, so went whither he could. Wandered in Georgia with his 12 strings guitar. His records were frequently released between 1927 and 35, but under different names because he signed exclusive contracts with concurrent labels… It was a generally established custom at that time. After his record of 1949 he became itinerant musician again. In 1956 a record shop owner recognized him at a corner in Atlanta. The man lured him to his shop with a bottle of corn whiskey. During some shows his last tracks were recorded there.
The Swiss funeral folk band unites various style in his music. There are blues, country, hillbilly, French chanson, Balkan melodies, gospel, gipsy music, jazz and more. They have written music for such theatre productions as Orpheus In The Underworld, Elektra and Tales from the Vienna Wood of Ödön von Horvath, and reproduced Kurt Weill ‘s arrangements of Brechts’operas. Beside these, they’ve a gothic-country version of Franz Schubert’s lied cycle, Winterreise.

The Dead Brothers have many forms:
a puppet dancing show,
a folk guitar symphony orchestra,
a primitive banjo and accordion duo,
a summer piano cabaret band with slide guitar and fiddle,
three old acoustic Armenians sitting on chairs,
and the only real heavy metal band, a mega combo with three tubas, 9 other horns.
The new album „Black Mouse” is a romantic record about the Spiritus Rector (directing spirit) of the world with oriental tunes and medieval rhythm.

Hard Left – 7″ lathe cut and digital on Future Perfect Records (US)
Hard Left is a hard mod band from members of #1 Smash Hits, Boyracer and Manatee in Oakland. Class war, Marxism and all that jazz, but I swear that listen to it so good, but I can’t do it without laughing.

It’s not easy pop music, rather pretty brutal, miraculous haunted gospel folk trip-hop soul by 26 years old Canadian singer songwriter Al Spx, who is working with her 6-piece band under the name of Cold Specks. Many of her songs are based on junk- shopped old photos and postcards. „It’s insane how many people throw away their old photos. Some of them are absolutely stunning and I just wonder what made these people throw them out – What is their story? Why is this woman doing that? Why is there a creepy man standing in the background?”
Neuroplasticity – LP/CD/digital – order here. Michael Gira (Swans) appears on a track. The collaboration started with Spx singing on Swans’ last album.
She dropped out of school, but hadn’t told her parents and secretly began worked at a call center. Around that time, she handed a collection of songs to a friend of hers, who passed it on to his brother, who happened to be a record producer in London.

„Call centers… I always say it’s the worst job in the world. It’s just hell.”
Little Big Chief Records is an independent label and distro specializing in bullshit. It is based out of a hole of a town in middling Virginia.

Harsh Pre-War Blues and Gospel Trash by Ragtime Frank from Australia. He uses his voice like Derek Bailey (English avant-garde guitarist and leading figure in the free improvisation movement) uses his guitar, his guitar like Joan La Barbara (American vocalist and composer known for her non-conventional vocal techniques) uses her voice, pairs up with a drummer who handles his kit like the bloke from The Monks, had he just nearly drowned in a pool of bourbon… 2 tracks from the forthcoming LP
Hollywood Autopsy was an art punk band in Wisconsin between 1981-83. Two contemporary views about their sole album:
„Mining a sixties garage territory somewhere between Jad Fair’s atonal art damage and Flipper’s molasses music, Wisconsin’s Hollywood Autopsy have produced an album of deliberately bad, artsily, anti-arty, aharmonic, and droning low-fi.” „PiL meets the Shaggs, Cramps, and Butthole Surfers on a bad ’60s acid trip, stumble over Flipper’s corpse, and rise (barely) above the basement. Enter the ghost of the 13th Floor Elevators, and you have it.” Reissue

ONO – Avant/Gospel/Punk/Industrial since 1980 in Chicago. But this is just the 4th excellent album. It’s mixed by Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, George Clinton, Miles Davies and Chuck D.

self-titled album with perfect low-fidelity garage punk sound by Monofonus Press

“I believe in the Lord, but the blues speaks to life, too. Blues has a feeling just like gospel; they just don’t have a book” – said Leo ‘Bud’ Welch. Born in 1932, Sabougla, Mississipi. Big family: 5 brothers and 7 sisters. Learning to play on guitar, harmonica and fiddle by himself. Working as a logger. Singing gospel in churches and playing blues whenever he gets chance up to this day. A blues, Praise His Name
