There were lots of fanzine in Hungary in the late 80s and 90s. In our new series we cut album reviews out from these.

Straight Edge came from Győr. It was a relatively long-lived fanzine in the 90s. Its last issue(s?) was released together with Második Látás.

The Revco comes forward with more and more shameless, looser and better music from record to record. Of course with such a crew as that is working with Jourgensen… There are the big part of Ministry, Chris Connelly (Ministry, Murder Inc, Pigface), Louis Svitek (M.O.D. , Mindfunk, Pigface) Duane Denison (Jesus Lizard, Pigface, Tomahawk), Timothy Leary, etc. If Rod Stewart listened to his Do Ya Think I’m Sexy from Revco, then he surely made a mess under himself in his joy, or in his pain.

„No more time for my beloved laziness”- said Joel Gion, the crazy tambourine man of serious psychedelic rock band Brian Jonestown Massacre, and after his solo single now here is the album which was recorded with a bunch of his friends. Joel thinks a lot of people are going to be surprised by this album. „Psych, Mod, Britpop, Shoegaze and Post Punk are just some of the sounds that come into play on this very unique record.” A lazy psychedelic britpop

SUDDEN INFANT was started as a one man project by Swiss composer, performance and body artist Christian Weber 25 years before. In May it has transformed into a trio during the recording session with Alexandre Babel (drums) and Joke Lanz (electronics, vocal).
Wölfli le Grand (1864-1930) was a Swiss art brut artist, unconscious father of the surrealism and a mental patient. He used the Campbell’s soup cans as artistic motif at first.

Carcassonne is a beautiful town in the Languedoc region in France whose main attraction is a high wall that prevents Bonne Humeur Provisoire from going into the town. This duo has turned electronic musical DIY into a highly irritating tool among its neighbours, who are more interested in tasting good cheese and paté of the region than finding out how it is possible, even in the country of the grandeur, to spin in only one wash the extravagance of Tic et Tac’s way, llulabies for hiperactive children and a taste for Dadaism that makes Tristan Tzara sane in comparison. Bonne Humeur Provisoire sounds as if a poltergeist phenomenom had taken control of a Martian killer of the 80’s, and sings and swears as Robbie the Robot
When performing, the group likes to externalize their absolute lack of complexes and their still unexplained passion for blue, and they make up for their shortsightedness by pressing all the keys on their synthesizers and modified toys at the same time. The resulting cacophony is excellent and has the vigorous beauty of an automaton that goes too far if it is wind up just a little. And however, in Carcassonne, people don’t even know what’s going on. Mon dieu!

Simple, beautiful and funny living room pop by English twins, Amelia and Pat. They’re like a little Breeders from Brighton, or an alternative Simon & Garfunkel, or Osmonds on cheap whizz with a taste of tropicalia. They formed in the summer of 2011 after sharing a dream in which David Bowie told them they were destined to make music together

Barbara grew up in Canada amongst Indian reserves with a little brown bear. She is master of tracking and trapping, and knows the smoke signals. Then she went among alpine natives of Swiss-Italian borderland to learn economic, graphic design and film making.

„I started playing bass in 2004 when I was studying video in Lugano, Switzerland. I needed a soundtrack for a short film I was working on and so I met up with Aris and we started recording.” And art punk band Peter Kernel was born from this co-operation. They were invited by Spencer Krug from the Canadian band Wolf Parade to open for their European tour in 2010.
How does Camilla Sparksss started?
Camilla Sparksss started while I was unloading my 8×10 Ampeg bass cabinet for the 15th time while we were touring Peter Kernel. I looked at Aris and said “we need to start a lighter project”. (…and of course we’ve always wanted to start something electronic).
(An 8×10 Ampeg bass cabinet’s dimensions: 120 x 66 x 40, around 65-75 kg. – editor’s note)
CS is absolutely another musical world than P. Kernel. What are the main musical influences of CS?
I think CS is a different style from PK, but if you listen carefully both projects are very similar. They’re both minimal, instinctive and raw. The main difference lies in the production and instruments used. At the begging we wanted to transform PK into electro, but as we started writing the songs we became nostalgic of the “acoustic” punch of a live band. So we decided to give Peter Kernel a little sister called Camilla Sparksss. But both projects are influenced by what we’re experiencing in our everyday lives and how we feel in the moment. Musically we listen to very different kinds of music, at the moment my favourite band is Moonface. It’s the solo project of Spencer Krug.
Are there any non-musical projects?
I love making clothing, especially hand made T-shirts. You can check them on my Bandcamp page. And of course videos. Oh, and I love cooking, but I’m not very good at it.

Godflesh is one of the most influential industrial/drone metal bands. It was founded by Justin K. Broadrick (who was the guitarist of Napalm Death in 1985-86. His other electronic/ experimental/ post noise projects: Techno Animal, Jesu, Final, Pale Sketcher) and G.C. Green in 1988. The band dissolved in 2002, and reformed in 2009.
“Clppng: make party music for the club you wish you hadn’t gone to, the car you don’t remember getting in, and the streets you don’t feel safe on.”

Death Grips have opened the doors to the electro-industrial hip-hop bands. My favourite is Clipping, one of the best among them.
