Christophe Clebard, a Belgian electronic musician, at the moment in Vancouver. His new cassette „Suce moi” will be released on 30th September by Canadian label Agony Klub.
Hard to categorize, but it is telling that he published music as Tucano on Italian NO=FI Recordings, home of strange other music (Hiroshima Rocks Around, Cheveu, Trouble Vs Glue, OvO, Dan Melchior, Maria Violencza and more). Of course RNR666 gave news from Tucano. Then I wrote about his music: psychedelic no wave disco with gothic and oriental moments. Then he used Italian, Polish and Englisn langueges, now he uses French. Some phrases what came to my mind by his brand new tape: minimal, electro, acid, techno, industrial, in 80s retro style, when the Belgian undergroung electronic scene was dominant. And it called a French music collective Grand Triple Alliance Internationale De L’Est to my mind, there are some similar acts like The Dreams, Klaus Legal or Cheveu.

Once upon a time when every German workers’ dreams came true in the German Democratic Republic, where citizens were so perfectly defended by the inner security service that every seventh one was an informer. It was so democratic that the media was totally controlled by the communist state, and any private publishing was illegal. In Karl Marx-Stadt (aka Chemnitz) there was a really underground new wave electronic experimental label klangFarBe run by Frank Bretschneider from 1985 till 1989. It published only 8 cassette releases.
A double compilation LP with AG Geige, Kriminal Tanzkapelle, Frank Bretschneider and Stein Im Brett
will be released soon by Mannequin Records (Germany)
You can download a Karl Marx-Stadt underground V/A tape from the 80s
and there is a film about AG Geige.
Bretschneider today run Raster-Noton. It is meant to be a platform – a network covering the overlapping border areas of pop, art, and science. It has been emerged from the fusion of Rastermusic, founded by Olaf Bender (AG Geige) and Bretschneider (also was in AG Geige) in 1996, and the sublabel Noton, which was run by Carsten Nicolai (aka Alva Noto). It realizes music projects, publications and installation works. The common idea behind all releases is an experimental approach – an amalgamation of sound, art, and design, which is not only apparent in the music, but also visible from the artwork and cover design. In music the label’s aesthetic focus is on rhythmic, minimal electronic music alternating between playful pop and introspection.

The Cleveland based Prostitutes are „Primitive Technology Specialists” and have experimental psych/prog rock background. And they are James Donadio himself. His roots have gone back to the 90s when he played on bass in Speaker/Cranker together with members of Pere Ubu, Guided by Voice and other less known local bands. What they did came mostly from bands like Can, Amon Duul and Neu. The Flat Can Co was his next and similar style band. Now he makes noisy minimal analog techno with same attitude. His label‘s slogan is „Primitive Technology Specialists”

The band was born in foking Notthingham, out of part frustration and part accident, it quickly found its feet as an aggressive verbal onslaught on all that is contrived and connected to the foking day-to-day hammer of low paid employment and domestic situations arising from that foking trap.

„The anarcho-punk (The Ex, Dog Faced Hermans, Rhythm Activism) made an important impact on us, but we don’t belong any movements. Although our lifestyle is perfect anarchism. We haven’t workplace, travelling around the world, working together with people whose values identical with ours, doing own label, etc. We can try to live by our own ideas, it requires much discipline, I think it’s an important trick of the anarchism.” (Read the full interview in Hungarian.)

La Perversita. One of the first releases of the French composer, Hector Zazou. Minimal and experimental punk. I can only enthuse about it. Delightful experience. There are a Beatles (Strawberry Fields) and a Stones (I Can’t Get No…) cover. Thanx for the Desire for the full album stream!
Only 300 copies exact replica of the original LP, which released in 1979. Cover art by Kiki Picasso. Distributed by Desire. (The original album cost 100-200 euros nowadays.)
