ACID TECHNO : A WAY OF LIFE NOT A FASHION STATEMENT

A rebel, the founder of the Stay Up Forever record label and collective, which has been going against the mainstream since ’93.

Turning from the punk towards techno raves in the early 90s, started hosting-supporting squat and warehouse parties, thus created their own crowd and party scene in London. Linked up with the Conspiracy and Bedlam Sound System for Chris and his friends it was a forthright move to the Spiral Tribe and its traveller scene. Then they got involved in such free raves as Lechlade and Castlemorton Common Fest in ’92. Now it was really only within a reach to set up a record label which represents their sound and keeps up this network.

As the collective began with spinning some of those German producers’s records like Hardfloor (who can be considered as one of the pioneers of the acid sound) their own way led to the evolution of the acid techno: the fusion of goa, hard trance, techno and acid house which in time became fast and grungy; fine tuned by raw, anarchist vibes.

So this November the label celebrates the 25th anniversary of it’s existence, the never-ending 90’s, the everlasting raves.

Kedden volt öt éve, hogy álmában kinyírta a szar kóla meg a pia az akkor 29 éves Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr.-t. Már életében egyfajta punk ikonnak számított, a halála után meg pláne. Egy hiperaktív őrült volt, milliónyi zenekarral és hanganyaggal (kíváncsiságból kimásoltam a diszkográfiáját, két és fél oldal), rengeteg mítoszépítő balhéval, és hihetetlenül jó dalíró érzékkel. Ezért szinte nincs olyan projektje, aminek ne lenne legalább néhány kurvajó száma, de végig zseniális lemezekbe sem nehéz akadni.

A Reatards volt az első kamaszként indított egyszemélyes lo-fi, szarrá torzított recsegő garázs punk projektje, aztán nem sokkal később szerzett még két hülyét (koncertekre meg még egyet), de utána sem lettek kevésbé zajosak

Fire Records is a British independent record label. In his roster: Blank Realm, Guided By Voices, Half Japanese, Las Kellies, Mission of Burma, Pere Ubu, Bardo Pond, Jad Fair. And some name from the past: Pulp, Chuck Prophet, Television Personalities, Lemonheads, Spaceman 3, Gun Club, Urge Overkill, Neutral Milk Hotel, Teenage Fanclub, Adverts. Fire throws a birthday party with his best new artists this evening. It will be streamed live. The gig starts at 8pm GMT (UK), 9pm CEST (Europe), 4am JST (Japan), 5am AEST (Australia), 3pm EDT (US East Coast), 12 noon PDT (US West Coast). Timing in GMT:

8:10PM – SCRAPS (AUS) > Weird minimal synth pop under influence of style of the 80s.
8:50PM – FAWN SPOTS (UK) > Punk rock trio. Devotees of early Joy Divison/Warsaw, Hüsker Dü and Rites of Spring. Razor edged, lightning fast short blasts of hyperactive noise with bittersweet melodies.
9:30PM – KEEL HER (UK) > High standard lo-fi experimental bedroom pop.
10:10PM – SCOTT & CHARLENE’S WEDDING (AUS) > “I’m a fucking furniture removalist from Adelaide. I write down-and-out pop songs. I write songs about every job that I do.”
