Death on the North Street > 3 black brothers underwent from funk to punk in Detroit, 1974. The trio was called Death. They self-released only one single before they transformed into a gospel rock band in 1977, but later they turned into reggae. The Death stayed fully unknown until 2009. One of the best European garage rock/punk label is Goodbye Boozy Records. It was founded in the late 90s in Teramo, which is a little central Italian town. The label is focusing limited edition 7″ vinyls. AJ Davila was the bassist and main songwriter in the disbanded Puerto Rican garage punk band Davila 666. He wanted to do something different with all the friends that he has met through the years in the music industry. Beside his band Terror/Amor he called some guests to the recordings: Sergio Rotman from an Argentine ska band Los Fabulous Cadillacs; Alex Anwandter, a Chilean pop-singer; Juan Cirerol, a Mexican folk singer-songwriter; Selma Oxor, a Mexican electro-trash songstress, who also is member of the band;  and there are Costa Ricans sure: Johnny Otis from Davila 666, who also member of the band; Mercedes Oller from the garage-pop group Las Robertas; Dax Díaz, a folk singer-songwriter; Fofe Abreu from the electro-pop Fofe y Los Fetiches. So the music is a little ecletic, but very Davila 666-like Latin garage rock.

„I wanted to do a rock ‘n roll band, because the best thing in the world is being in a rock ‘n roll band.  I guess I’d been friends with Nic (Bed Wettin’ Boys, RIP Society Records) for a really long time and I was saying that to him on a phone, and he’s like “I’m the guy for the job.” – said the Australian musician Angel Bermuda (Circle Pit, Southern Comfort, Straight Arrows) about her brand new project, Ruined Fortune. „It’s a really different sound to Circle Pit though: it’s a bit darker and weirder.” Tight, noisy punk rock in the manner of late 70s-early 80s with cheap Casios, drum machine and metal percussion.

The first black punk band was formed by three brothers in Detroit as RockFire Funk Express. In 1973 they recorded two songs for a single that was released in last year by Third Man Records because they changed name and style just after the recordings under the influence of an Alice Cooper show. The new style is called proto-punk today and the new name would be Death. The Columbia Records president implored the band to change its name, but they refused, so their first album was released in 2009. It was recorded in 1974

Their only one single was self-released before the next style and name change. In 1977 the Death transformed into a gospel-rock band: 4th Movement. (The famous black hardcore-punk band, Bad Brains was founded in same year.) Then they transformed into a reggae band. Their recordings of Death were discovered in the second half of 00’s. The band has reformed with a new guitarist (the original died in 2002) and a documentary was made about their story.
