She is from France, but will move to New York soon,
and will do big bites to the Big Apple of course.
Her first article was sent from Santiago de Compostela. Enjoy

The good wind brought me here in Santiago de Compostela on the 24th of July, the night before the Galician National day (even the Spanish king is present!). This region is the north-western corner of Spain, and it is certainly full of independentists, people strongly attached to their identity and language, how nice!
Cause even though we are in Spain, Galicia is not as warm as you could imagine, and that’s fine enough, I love a little breeze in summer nights. So here I am, after having been offered some fruity white wine and illicit substance, fireworks worthy of a war bombing, and MUSICA. Woooow a big stage and I can hear…wait a minute… that’s…ROCK’N’ROLL. Oooo yeaaah. I can see from far away a tiny woman, ginger short hair, blackly dressed like a proper rocker, perfectly screaming with her hoarse voice, what a talent! She is surrounded by 3 nice stylish men, guitar, bass, percussion, and she rules them the way it should be done.
I get to the first row (thanks to my many years of sneaking experience), and she’s not that small anymore, rather impressive with her strong tattooed arms, and it has its effect, girls are going craAazyyy around here. This is not any woman we can tell. I can’t understand all the words expelled through her mouth but my friend Xemma from AGAL (Associaçom Galega da Língua, id est Association for Galician Language) tells me that she’s a feminist slash, activist slash, independentist, and it shows, ooo… interesting. After playing pop rock’n’roll, she sings a lullaby that everybody in the public knows by heart, this is a SHOW. And among that, other little popular tricks, she adapts some traditional song in Galician version, e.g. Guantanamera. But the best part was about to come… BLUES! Aaaa blues, how I love women’s blues and she definitely has the guts (and the sunglasses) for it! Power and Perfection are the two P’s coming to my mind while dancing as if I was on stage myself (by the way, my neck still hurts from all the headbanging).

The Dale Cooper Quartet is a trio, of course. But they never play as a three piece band naturally, because there’re The Dictaphones. The band originally formed as a quartet for an improvisation night in Brest (France) in 2002 in order to play a strange mix of Angelo Badalamenti and the German slow-core-jazz band, Bohren & Der Club of Gore style music. Mysterious, dark, smoky, jazz, exactly like a film by David Lynch. While they’re also under influence of Bretagne’s weather, landscape and people, of course.
from their first album „Paroles de Navarre” (2006).
It’s re-released by Denovali Records (Germany)
Denovali Swingfest, Oct 2-5, Essen with Frederico Albanaese (I), The Haxan Cloak (UK), Ensemble Economique (US), Pan & Me (F), Bohren und der Club of Gore (Ger), Never Sol (Cz), Thees Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra (Can), Ben Frost (Aus), The Samuel Jackson 5 (Nor) and more.
The program of Denovali Records varies from sometimes improvised darker experimental sounds, ambient, drone, indie and electronica to darkjazz, jazz or piano and string driven modern compositions.

There’s a book by Judy Blume: Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. It’s „about a girl in sixth grade who grew up without a religious affiliation. Margaret’s mother is Christian and her father is Jewish, and the novel explores her quest for a single religion. Margaret also confronts many other pre-teen female issues, such as buying her first bra, having her first period, coping with belted sanitary napkins (changed to adhesive sanitary pads for recent editions of the book), jealousy towards another girl who has developed a womanly figure earlier than other girls, liking boys, and whether to voice her opinion if it differs from those of her friends.”
About these problems with really various style music from pop to punk by all-star girl group of Canberra, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. And surprisingly they’re so good than there we’re sold out shows only. Yes, were. The final show was on 15 Aug.

The audience say:
„Holy crap. It sounds like early Pixies went black metal.”
„It’s like the Dum Dum Girls and Dark Throne.”
The competent, Jorge Elbrecht reply:
„I love black metal as much as I love Sonic Youth and the ’60s pop stuff.”
I say: It comes the Liturgy to my mind.

The Cleveland based Prostitutes are „Primitive Technology Specialists” and have experimental psych/prog rock background. And they are James Donadio himself. His roots have gone back to the 90s when he played on bass in Speaker/Cranker together with members of Pere Ubu, Guided by Voice and other less known local bands. What they did came mostly from bands like Can, Amon Duul and Neu. The Flat Can Co was his next and similar style band. Now he makes noisy minimal analog techno with same attitude. His label‘s slogan is „Primitive Technology Specialists”

Tim Presley (= White Fence) sings a very Velvet Underground-like song about Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus (37-68) who was the emperor of Roman Empire as Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus (54-68) and committed suicide with the aid of his secretary. The imperator’s bust is on the cover. In accordance with order of the series the A-side artist suggests a band to the B-side. Presley picked the tour guitarist of White Fence, Jack Name (aka Muzz, Fictional Boys and John Webster Johns).
100% of the digital proceeds going to VH1 Save the Music program.
It will be released on 2 Sept > pre-order / the recently released White Fence album

„San Francisco’s first and only rock ‘n’ roll band” was the slogan of CRIME. It was formed in 1976 and after 3 singles broke up in 1980. They were among the very first west coast punk bands, and played raw and loud rock’n’roll. In 1977 they began wearing police uniforms. In 1979 the Crime performed a show in San Quentin State Penitentiary. There they didn’t wear police uniforms of course, instead of it they wore prison guard uniforms. This LP release collects the three singles along with nine previously unreleased studio recordings from 1976 to 1980.
Post-Crime: In 1987 Sonic Youth covered „Hot Wire My Heart” on their LP Sister. – Johnny Strike (vocals, guitar) has become a writer. In 2001 he formed a new band, The Johnsons. They changed their name later to The Venus Hunters and eventually shortened it to TVH. – Crime was re-formed in 2005. In 2008 they recorded a new album of rare, older materials. – The drummer Hank Rank has become a film producer under his real name, Henry Rosenthal. His best known work is The Devil and Daniel Johnston. – The original drummer Ricky Tractor was the original singer of Flipper, because he was a very original person… – A photo book about Crime.
