LA-TI-DA RECORDS is a Canadian independent label in Vancouver. There’re mainly garage rock and punk bands as Ape City R&B, Needles/Pins, Fist City, but you can also find 60s garage: The React, 70s glam rock: Paralel, soul: The Jay Vons, and one man band: Skip Jensen. My favourite is a garage soul band, The Ballantynes. You can listen to these on the label’s Bandcamp site.

What was the cause of starting of the label?
While hung over on vacation in Las Vegas in 2004, my good friend and I (Dale Davies, who is the graphic designer for everything we do) decided it would be a good idea to start a label. A lesson was learned that day: don’t make decisions while dehydrated in midday desert heat! Against our better judgement, we haven’t stopped yet.
What’s the main profile?
In terms of a goal? Our reason for doing it? To help get our favourite bands from home out into the world and help bring some of our favourite bands in the world back home with us! The fun part is when the two parts meet.
What was the greatest success?
In terms of releases, probably The Tranzmitors and The Ballantynes, as we have worked with those two bands every step of the way and it’s been really gratifying that both have found an audience. That said, our new Steve Adamyk Band single has been very well received and our strongest pre-seller ever. In terms of putting on shows, I’d have to say our annual festival, The Fall Down/Get Down!
What was the greatest surprise in the course of your story?
The greatest surprise is that after nearly ten years, we’re still standing! Somehow, we’ve managed to maintain this thing and continue to grow slowly and steadily. By maintaing our friends and relationships with bands and labels around the world, by continuing to adapt and change with the times, and by bridging our love for bands old and new, we’ve kept our enthusiasm and drive.
Again, with the Fall Down/Get Down festival, there’s been some tremendous surprises, but only upon reflection. At the time, we are so busy running the festival to stop and think how weird it is to bring in artists like Death and Roky Erickson, but after it’s over, it’s hard not to pause and say, wow, we just flew in Death and Roky Erickson!
What will be the next release?
The next release will be a brand new band called The Flintettes, featuring Mike Flintoff of the Tranzmitors. The Flintettes are a three piece from Vancouver who play in a style similar to early Stiff Records releases. Great stuff!

FAI BABA – SHE’S MY GURU
At first I overlooked that this album is a great one because I was wonder-struck by doomenfels so much. But when I edited the (very coming soon) radio show from these albums on the first round I wrote to a paper the number of selected songs during the listening. On the occasion of Fai Baba I selected almost the full album.
Fai Baba was founded by Fabian Sigmund in Zürich, 2008, after he came back his spititual journey from India as „Psychedelic, Garage and Soul man.” He writes and plays very strange and highly enetertaining music. Krautrock-like psych pop, drenched with noisy space rock, spiced with a little 70s disco pumping sometimes. In short: very indie rock. Beside the drums and guitars you can find a heep of old keys intstruments as Farfisa, Ace Tone and Hammmond organs, Rhodes and Crumar electric pianos, Omnichord and Moog on this album.
Fai Baba is influenced by John Lee Hooker, who rarely played on a standard beat.

Cole Alexander (guitar, vocal) and Joe Bradly (drums) from the garage rock star Black Lips teamed up with Curtis Harding (Cee Lo Green‘s former back-up singer/writer) and Danny Lee Blackwell (guitar, vocal in the psych garage rock Night Beats) in order to mix southern soul and garage rock.

here is the full new album of the Berlin resident notorious Canadian garage rocker King Khan and his big band The Shrines. But first some words about his previous things.

His infamous garage rock band was The Spaceshits between 1995-99. It was well known for their violent stage shows. Their sets lasted no longer than 10 to 15 minutes because the band or members of the audience would create disturbances, including fireworks or food fights. The band’s shows would lead them to be effectively blacklisted from many venues in Montreal. During the European tour King Khan has decided to remain in Berlin, hereby the Spaceshits disbanded. In same year he has formed his garage rock psychedelic soul outfit The King Khan & The Shrines. The band’s percussionist, Ron Streeter formerly played for Ike and Tina Turner, Bo Diddley, Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau. The organist is Fredovitch, the French multi-instrumentalist.

“Here’s 3 ugly lookin blokes, tourin’ the world, playin at all these wonderful cities, dining at all these wonderful restaurants, meeting all these famous people. In the back of ya head I’m thinking to myself ‘Im a fuckin’ farmer!” – one of the members of Cosmic Psychos said.* The old Aussie punk rock band formed in 1982, and over some line-up change and an untimely death by heart attack they still rock on. Their music is garage punk hard rock’n’roll like Motörhead, Stooges or Ramones. Strange though it may appear they had a significant influence on the Seattle Sound in the 90s through their some fans: Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), Buzz Osbourne (The Melvins) or Donita Sparks (L7). Now the Goner and the Aussie Aargth Records re-release their first three albums.1st track from 1987, 2nd & 3rd from 1989.
*I Love My Tractor – is the title of their latest and live album (2013)
