Daisy Chains is a very responsive Minneapolis trio. Minimalist fuck you pay me post punk leanings intersect slow country drawl and rock and roll swagger in interesting ways to create something unique that also nods to greats such as Dead Moon, Beat Happening, and Opal.

Stefan Christensen was the lead man in long running New Haven Connecticut arty DIY punk outfit the Estrogen Highs (e.g. Trouble in Mind, Telephone Explosion, Dead Beat or Southpaw Records), and hc-punk band Iron Hand.

He has walked away to a more abstracted discordant and subtle area of the post punk. Kiwi influences such as This Kind of Punishment, the Dead C, Alastair Galbraith and the Xpressway label sound stick out along with the Mike Rep Ohio scene of weirdo rock and the general goodness of early UK DIY as prime vantage points.

He is running C/Site Recordings. Now they have launched a store with releases available from Estrogen Highs, Stefan Christensen, Pieces of Fruit, Worn Leather, Mountain Movers, Medication, Phemale, and Jon Eriksen. First batch of cassette releases coming in the spring, which will include releases from Stefan Christensen, Medication, and more.

Some days back I have found a Devoish synth punk band, it was called Distractor. Since then I have been listening to their one and only album continuously.

When I went to the work, when I came from, there was no other option, there was no question, click the continuous playing on my phone and „got some dirt, got a shovel”. Today I was strong. I forced myself to stop it. Of course I am listening it now again. There are just hits and funny anthems on ukulele, trombone, guitar, bass and synth. „We were in Glen’s Buick one day listening to Gary Numan M.E. and he was singing along to it and I remember thinking, woah… Glen can sing. That was my first memory of it all. Tomorrows Tulips has been formed as a duo because Alex’s girlfriend „Christina said something about hating to go to Paul Mitchell hair school and I asked her what she always wanted to do. She said she wanted to learn drums but thought that was ridiculous.” At that time Alex was in the garage rock band Japanese Motors.

He was sixteen or seventeen the first time he heard the Velvet Underground box-set. „I remember listening to Velvet Underground and the out-of-tune guitars and there was such a sense of freedom to it. I think I heard them and thought, I wanna do that.” And he does that.

Today the band is a trio, but the drummer is Jennifer. They are difficult egomaniacs, coming from Costa Mesa, Orange County, California, and play esoteric doo wop grunge, and you will hear really cool bass if you click now

UFUX is Christopher Ilth’s new band. He was in Functional Blackouts and Daily Void, and play hc-punk. As montage artist he said in an interview: „I gravitated towards Dada & Surrealism through the pioneers of the punk movement in the 70’s. Those art movements shared individuality, autonomy, rebellion. However, punk, while having a visual side through fashion, record sleeves & fliers, was mainly about music. Dada & Surrealism was not only a visual art movement, but was also a revolt of everyday life with manifestos, pranks, and revolution that made a statement against the establishment and reason.” (US)

Here is the new album of Rocket From The Tombs

– Is it a punk band? – No. It pre-dated punk rock.
– Is it alternative? – No. It aspired to the mainstream.
– Is it legendary? – No. It’s mythical.

It was formed in 1974 by e.g. David Thomas and Cheetah Chrome in Cleveland, where – they say – everything was doomed. The band did not reach its first birthday, and never went into a studio. But it left behind such songs as Sonic Reducer or 30 Seconds Over Tokyo for its descendants. The first would be a Dead Boys anthem, the second one a Pere Ubu hit.

The originals were released in 2002. Almost the original line-up reunited in 2003. Their first studio album was released in 2011, and now here is the second. The Black Record has been made in co-production with the members of This Moment In Black History. Where the drummer is Bim Thomas, aka Obnox, who is the drummer of Bassholes, one of the best blues punk band.
