FUTUROSCOPE is a theme park, a stupid high-tech multimedia Disneyland in France, in Vienne Departement. If you go thereabout rather choose the goat cheese and the wine! But also is a French band with perfect references. Unfortunately there’re just a little, but luckily increasing bunch of people who knows about the great little label in Texas, Monofonus Press, and the magnifique petit label in France, Cockatail Pueblo. Led Er Est, Shit and Shine, John Wesley Coleman, The Golden Boys, The Pheromoans, The Rebel, Trans Upper Egypt, XYX (is my absolute favorite there), perhaps these are the most well-known band on Monofonus. Well, I think after these, it is absolutely needless to mention the bands of Cocktail Pueblo (look those!). The Futuroscope’ records were released by them. The French trio (from Tours, with a member of Pneu) plays psychedelic ritual kraut space rock, often it twists into ecstasy

& another good news, the new Golden Boys album is under work

The founder of notorious British alternative punk band Country Teasers (which was somewhere between The Fall and Fat White Family), Ben Waller says about the beginning of his musical carrier: “I envied the guys in the school band. They didn’t invite me to join, so I formed my own band. I wanted to play the Cure’s guitar melodies, so that’s how I learnt, playing along. I learnt by ear. I had learnt piano to Grade 3, which I failed; I learnt sax for a year or two at school too. Fucking hated it. But I could play the solo at the end of Pink Floyd’s ‘Two Suns in the Sunset’, the tragic climax of The Final Cut.” * His next cut under his pseudonym The Rebel
„KROT” LP on Monofonus Press (US). It is just like the Country Teasers with minimal orchestration and experimental country songs. It was recorded in Texas. On the label’s site you can listen to the whole album for a limited time!

About Takako Minekawa, her brand new album with Dustin Wong,
and a short interview

AUSMUTEANTS have been started as a synth’n’drums punk duo, but within a short time it evolved with a bassists and a hardcore „non guitarrist” into a full band, and they do it so good, that such big international labels want them as: Goner, Goodbye Boozy and Total Punk.
6 tracks from 4 fresh releases
1-3 tracks: „Order Of Operation” upcoming LP by Goner (US) and Aarght Records (Aus). The 3rd song also on a 7″ single by Goodbye Boozy Records (Italy). 4-5: „It’s Alive”, cassette on Welcome In The Shit Records (Italy). The 4th song also on the LP. 6th: upcoming 7″ single by Total Punk Records (US)
And there everyone is called on this beautiful German name: Kurt. Very strange that it’s a female name – according to the Wikipedia. (Was, meanwhile it would be revised.)

Nothing strange, nothing weird, just good dynamic rock music for your entertainment by Jonly Bonly from Texas. It’s side project of OBN IIIs.

From RNR666 party I know a Turkish new wave synth-punk band: Kirik Cizgi. Now here is another one: Kim Ki O. Their music is a little more darker and minimal than the other one, but it shows surprising rhythmical similarity! Yes, the influence of Turkish folklore. Bir, Iki LP compiles the best cuts from Kim Ki O’s long out of print CDs, with a song from (!)Enfant Terrible Record’s „Radio Resistancia” CD compilation. „Synth, bass, indie, dark”

You can find some free stuff on their site!. Anyway, Kim Ki O means „who is that anyway?”
“Pere Ubu is mainstream rock. Justin Timberlake is weird experimental music. Robbie Williams is avant-garde. Britney Spears is constantly coming up with something new and innovative. Pere Ubu does the same old thing. ‘New’ is a trap and a scam to dupe student-types and other naive people.”*
Pere Ubu is a band. It was formed in Cleveland in the mid-70s after the break-up of garage rock band Rockets From The Tombs. The most famous RFTT song is the Sonic Reducer. It would be a punk anthem by The Dead Boys, which was formed by the one half of RFTT.
Pere Ubu plays experimental rock. The only constant member is David Thomas. On his albums he has talked nonsene about art of walking and sleep walk, barking dogs and horses, guitars and girls, clouds and weather, honey moon and Monday morning, Steve and Michele, Heaven and Hell, ice cream truck and stolen Cadillac, the flames over Nebraska and winter in the Firelands, and so on until 414 seconds.
The moon and the monkeys are the two main motifs of the new Pere Ubu album Carnival of Souls. But you can also find there e.g. Greyhounds, maps, stars, love and duck. But if all these wouldn’t be tempting enough for you, a number of the songs were developed from an underscore composed for the classic B-category horror movie Carnival of Souls.

Dustin Wong & Takako Minekawa – Savages Imagination. Album review.
Let’s see my notes! Well, at first, who is Takako Minekawa?
Do you remember the J-pop explosion in the 90s? Exactly I think the members of shibuya-key movement, e.g. Pizzicato 5, Cornelius, Kahimi Kane, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Towa Tei, Maki Nomiya and others. Among them Takako Minekawa made the wittiest music. Her particular experimental electro-pop was influenced by the 60s French Yé-Yé and Brazilian Tropicalia movements, Pet Shop Boys and Kraftwerk, house and the fashionable electronic dance music of the 90s, for instance the Ninja Tunes’ artists. And her music was nevertheless unmistakeable Japanese. It was very playful and silly parade of sounds and moods. Between two catchy pop songs always was something peculiar, but funny abstraction, but often also inside the catchy pop melodies. Her records were released between 1995 and 2000, and there was a hit in 1996, Fantastic Cat
After 13 years silence she came back last year with a common album with Dustin Wong. He is a Hawaiian born half Chinese/half American guitarist. He grew up in Japan and went to college to the US. There he founded an experimental guitar duo with Matthew Papich (nowadays: Co La): Ecstatic Sunshine (2004-07), and a Deerhoofesque art rock band: Ponytail (2005-11). After the break-up he has begun solo career, and makes experimental guitar albums. And now here is the next Minekawa & Wong album. And it’s (or at least, I like it) better than the previous one. The music is very playful and silly parade of sounds and moods. Inside the songs, between two peculiar, but funny abstract electro-pop melodies, always are catchy pop tunes. Unfortunately many people averse to the phrase „pop”, and same time they consider „rock”, „metal” and „punk” as positive things, when there are many load of shit under the label of „rock”, „metal” and „punk.” This is pop, because this is not rock. Rather alternative disco a la Mouse on Mars.
And here is another strange thing. The „Savage Imagination” comes the Beastie Boys in my mind, while this is almost entirely instrumental album. And this fact has been observed after I listened to it many times! Well, their rate of creativity is equivalent with the mentioned boys.
LP and CD out on 22 September by Thrill Jockey Records (US)

Joanna Gruesome is among the best indie rock band. The Welsh group combines garage punk with indie pop in a very unique style. There will be released two split records soon. And in both case Joanna Gruesome is the much better. Maybe there are some tactics on one side. The first split is a 12″ EP with lo-fi indie pop band Trust Fund from Bristol

I very like Total Punk Records, not just for their releases, but also for their name. Because it’s absolutely enough to write that Golden Pelicans‘ debut album by Total Punk, and everything is clear

Not many people can front a rock band, sing Górecki’s Third Symphony, lead a marching band processional down the streets of the Sundance film festival and perform in a baroque opera of their own composing — all in a month’s time. But Shara Worden can. She came from a musical family of traveling evangelists, went on to study operatic voice and then classical composition not only in the States, but also in Moscow, where she made her first records. Since 2006 she has been making art pop records under the name of My Brightest Diamond. And there were many collaborations with such artists as Laurie Anderson, David Byrne & Fat Boy Slim, Sufjah Stevens, Prefuse 73, Recoil, Bon Iver, The Blind Boys of Alabama and more.
„This Is My Hand” album on LP,CD, digital on Asthmatic Kitty (US)
She also in a very famous artist Matthew Barney’s brand new cine-opera, the „River of Fundament„, together with Salman Rushdie, Mike Tyson, Debbie Harry and Zeena Parkins, but it’s „such a mess that I sincerely hope I will never have to endure a second viewing” – wrote a critic.
The beauty of it is that she was born in El Dorado
