Scrabbled is a music collective in Brisbane (Aus) with members from Clag, Per Purpose and many more. They are play real pop music. You can find just hits with catchy refrains on their album. But these tracks are too human, so aren’t good for radio stations. On the other hand it’s real punk music. Free, noisy and foul-mouthed, but too free for punks. „Urban folk” is also a good phrase for their music, it as if would be played by a common project of Velvet Underground and Mad Nanna. The latter is also a cult band.
Welcome To Pig City cassette and digital on Virtual Cool Records (Aus)

Wonderful little psychedelic melancholic folk pop songs from London for the rainy days. Astronauts are solo project of Dan Carney from Dark Captain (formerly Dark Captain Light Captain). It was born while he was in a hospital because his fractured leg.

The Daicos – Monkey’s Blood LP on Homeless Records (Aus)

„Stale white boys playing stale black music” or „100 AUSMUTEANTS fans can’t be wrong… 100,000,000 Bon Jovi fans can.” Well, a fantastic Aussie garage synth-punk band where every member is Kurt.

DEPAKINE CHRONO. Czech punks on acid with guitar, drums and calculators. Debut album on cassette
and digital. A witty pun track title: Iva 8bittova
Side effects: seizure, double vision, back-and-forth movements of the eyes, seeing flashes of light, blurred visions, lack of coordination, confusion, hallucinations, tremors, dizziness, ringing in your ears, problems with thinking or memory…
„I wasn’t always a model citizen, but I always played music.” – Dan McGee

Spider Bags is a rock’n’roll band. It’s got a bit of a country and two bit of blues influence. The main figure, the songwriter Dan McGee started playing guitar when he was really little because of Blind Lemon Jefferson (blues musician, 1893-1929). His favourite songwriters are three delta blues musician: Skip James (1902-69), Robert Johnson (1911-38), Tommy Johnson (1896-1956) and Lou Red. He don’t have any kind of training, and didn’t really even start playing shows for a long time, until he was in his late twenties, then his band has become a favorite of the garage rock scene. The forth album will be released soon, and I’m very curious because he „wanted to make a record that sounded like a classic rock record, that was mixed like the old AC/DC records, or like Dark Side Of The Moon.”
Frozen Letter LP/CD/digital on Merge Records (US)
Among the many favorite songs of RNR666 there is a Spider Bags’ forever green, Hey Delinquents!

Australian suburban country that’s made while sitting around the kitchen table by/in Lower Plenty. The band (with UV Race and Total Control members) named after a Melbourne suburb. The life is there so
Life/Thrills LP on Bedroom Suck Records (Aus)

Frankly, I’m fed up with garage rock. And Straight Arrows are also a garage rock band, but luckily in Australia. I can tell lots of fashionable phrase about their music: fuzzy, psychedelic, garage rock, punk attitude etc. But all the same, it’s wonderful.
„Rising” LP, CD, digital album on Rice Is Nice (AUS), Agitated (UK) and Hozac Records (USA) on next week

Koiran Nakoinen Nainen (= Dog Looking Woman). Nice melodic Finnish lo-fi punk from Manchester of the North, aka Tampere.
Kesämuistoja (= Summer Memories) 7″ EP on Blast of Silence with fabulous cover art

A G E N D E R is a strange synth punk band in Australia. It has started as Romy Hoffman’s one woman lo-fi punk project. She’s also known as a hip-hop artist under the name of Macromantics. His project has morphed into a trio. On drums: experimental electronic musician Melissa Agate, aka Sanso-Xtro. After these it’s surprising that the bass player Yolanda DeRose is just from a simple garage rock band, Mass Culture Suicide. The second album „is a spillage of sexual secrets and the purging of perversions.” The first track is a little deceiving…
„Fixations” LP on Desire Records (France)

The singer and drummer met volatile French guitarist in London after he left an ad in their studio listing Television, Ennio Morricone and “everything at DFA Records” as influences. (DFA is an electronic dance music label, co-founded by James Murphy of LCD Sound System.) The most interesting person is the bass player, Jade Spranklen, who is also playing for the British pop singer Whinnie Williams (aka Sunday Girl), and she is an excellent illustrator, but cannot draws free style rap. But Felt Tip is an indie rock band like XTC or Gang of Four.
Simple Things digital EP on Fierce Panda (UK) on 9 June

Dick Diver‘s members are from such great Aussie bands as Boomgates, Total Control, UV Race or Lower Plenty. Easy melodic indie rock or jangle pop

A celebration of the dawn of the Italian commercial television, through the use of its synthetic sounds/effects and its involuntary hypnotic potential by CADEO. It hides two main figures of the Roman scene: members of other projects such as System Hardware Abnormal, Hiroshima Rocks Around, Maximillian I, Micropupazzo, Polysick and TheAwayTeam. 80s style minimal electronic music

Little Big Chief Records is an independent label and distro specializing in bullshit. It is based out of a hole of a town in middling Virginia.

Harsh Pre-War Blues and Gospel Trash by Ragtime Frank from Australia. He uses his voice like Derek Bailey (English avant-garde guitarist and leading figure in the free improvisation movement) uses his guitar, his guitar like Joan La Barbara (American vocalist and composer known for her non-conventional vocal techniques) uses her voice, pairs up with a drummer who handles his kit like the bloke from The Monks, had he just nearly drowned in a pool of bourbon… 2 tracks from the forthcoming LP
Hollywood Autopsy was an art punk band in Wisconsin between 1981-83. Two contemporary views about their sole album:
„Mining a sixties garage territory somewhere between Jad Fair’s atonal art damage and Flipper’s molasses music, Wisconsin’s Hollywood Autopsy have produced an album of deliberately bad, artsily, anti-arty, aharmonic, and droning low-fi.” „PiL meets the Shaggs, Cramps, and Butthole Surfers on a bad ’60s acid trip, stumble over Flipper’s corpse, and rise (barely) above the basement. Enter the ghost of the 13th Floor Elevators, and you have it.” Reissue

Clag formed in 1991 as a psychotic kiddie punk band in Australia. They disbanded in 1995. They have left three singles and a legend. There was a reunion recently and a 7″ vinyl will be released on 19 April with two new tracks and new live recordings.

There was another legendary band in the 90s. It was called Nirvana. Yeah, they did some good tracks at that time. There were some hits and finally a shot. Now here is their last studio album In Utero from covers. The songs are played for example by Ceremony, Thursday, Pigmy Lush, Young Widows, Jay Reatard, Mean Jeans.
Here are two opinions of customers:
„Why would you take crappy artists and try to do a classic album. Ugh at least try to make the songs sound good. Horrible”
„I don’t write review too often, but after listening to this garbage I felt compelled to. There is nothing good about this album.”
RNRXPRESS is our brand new series. Express opinion on the basis of only one listening.
Holy shit! Real Butthole Surfers sound and feeling by a Melbourne based New Zealander satanic rocker. 4 songs, 4 stories
Thirsty River – After too many beverages one night I subconsciously rode my bike into the river… Public (shopping) Holiday – Wrote this one last Anzac day – it’s a good day to go shopping, although most of them are closed. Touchscreen – Are social networks gonna end up as apocalyptic meat markets in the near future? Sick Day – No blood, no loss of limb or broken bones but some invisible mechanical human component failure….
Blessed work. We praise it.
