Vaadat Charigim is one of the best and internationally most well-known Israeli rock bands. They have become famous with their debut album last year. It got unanimous appreciation by international music press. Even the fastidious (or snobbish) NME also gave 8 points from 10 on it.
The style is shoegaze: psychedelic, sometimes melancholic dreamy indie rock, which is hidden behind a distorted guitar curtain. And that guitar curtain is sometimes ruffled by electronic storms. The style has evolved in the British Islands in the 80s. Its greatest bands are the Scottish Jesus & Mary Chain, the Irish My Bloody Valenitne and the Ride from England. In the case of Vaadat Charigim add to this a singer/guitarist, who is blessed with voice of Morrissey and Ian Curtis (Joy Division). So it’s very English, but same time it’s 100% Israeli. And not just because the language is Hebrew. The feelings of the Israeli youth can be perfectly express with the chosen style: the desire for the peace, which is almost unnatural state in that region, where „it’s okay to be afraid.”
„Ein Nehama Ladoachim” (There is No Comfort for the Fading). „The song is kind of about growing up as a promoter in Tel Aviv and watching the scene changing and realizing it’s not the same as when I was young – but maybe it is and I’m just older and maybe I don’t know anything. I used to organize a lot of shows on rooftops and that disappeared. And we don’t have basement shows like they do in the States. because we don’t have basements. We have bomb shelters.”
The clip was shot in Tel Aviv first shopping mall, the Ditzengoff Center. Its construction began in 1972, but the mall was finished just in 1983. (Very Hungarian style pace.) In 1996, 13 people were killed there in a suicide bombing attack by a Hamas terrorist.

Kyle Gibson: As a kid I remember seeing my sister’s boyfriend’s Damned Damned Damned record and being intrigued by the wild looking people on the cover. Also my sister had an X Ray Spex shirt and came home from college with a computer with a bunch of songs by The Stooges, Buzzcocks, and Bikini Kill on her computer. That was when I felt a cool personal connection to bands/music. So really a computer and t shirts made me want to play music.

The Space Lady Flies To Europe
At the time, back in the early seventies the Vietnam war was still raging, Susan Dietrich and her husband Joel and their tiny daughter were political exiles, living like refugees in the States. Joel would be imprisoned for having resisted the draft. For nine years they had subsisted on spare change and meager sales of their artwork on the streets. Finding a dilapidated, old accordion in a junk store was the major cause in turning her life around. And “the Space Lady began her odyssey on the streets of San Francisco in the late 70s, playing an accordion and dressed flamboyantly, transmitting messages of peace and harmony. Following the theft of her accordion, she invested in a then-new Casio keyboard…” and plays minimal prog lo-fi space pop.

INTERVIEW
– The members?
– Dániel Bernáth (guitar, vocal), István Nagy (drums), Gyula Veres (guitar).
– Where do you live?
– Budapest, but we’re from east of Hungary.
– When it was founded, and why?
– 2 years ago. But we have been doing it more seriously for 1 year. We were at same class at University of Fine Arts in Budapest. In the early times our goal was just to drain away our tensions, and to gratify our primitive instincts, but today we do it for success, money, shine, free beers and so on.
– Did you think to write Hungarian lyrics? By the way, what are its themes?
– Yes we did, but rejected the thought. There were many reasons, but the first: the language of rock is the English. And such music like ours needs this simpler form of expression. In Hungarian I can’t express myself in such manner that I would like to do it. In Hungarian it’s harder to be rude. I should say sophisticated banalities about things of the life as love, pain, anger, hope and similar banalities of the life.

Stupid Black Swamp Thing
Hungarian garage rock band DOPE CALYPSO was founded after collapse of the frequent RNR666 Party performer Kollaps. So it was absolutley natural that their first show was at RNR666 Party this year. Until this time they have released a digital single, and this video was made
with very poor fantasy – but can be said in their favour – not by the band.
Debut album this month.

By King Tuff they succeeded get into the toilet of Jack White (White Stripes, owner of Third Man Records). Matt said: Once we were at Third Man Records recording with King Tuff and Jack White’s toilet was really nice and it just stood out to me just as, like, a really nice toilet… it was just super beautiful, and I’ve always looked up to Jack White a lot. But when I saw his successful toilet I felt nothing but pure envy and jealousy because I wanted that nice of a toilet to sit on everyday, when I should have been like, “Oh wow this is over the top.” So I went back and told Thomas and we both pooped in it.

Vaadat Charigim is the new band of Juval from TV Buddhas. The latter is a primaeval garage rock band. The new one is a shoegaze, exactly like the title of this post with the voice of Morrissey and Ian Curtis (Joy Division). The latter statement was declared by New Musical Express. The British magazine has given 8 points from the 10 for the Israeli band’s debut album which was released by Burger Records (US). It’s about how the Israeli youth feels themselves in their homeland where the war is so natural.

A szombati bulival kapcsolatban elég sok info kezdett el terjengeni. Mi úgy érezzük, hogy nekünk is meg kell nyilvánulnunk a témával kapcsolatban.
Az eredtei megállapodástól abszolút eltérő módon kezeltétek a technikát. Többször is megbeszéltem Veletek, hogy a vendégek reakcióját figyelve hangosítható a zene, leokéztátok, úgy tűnt egyet is értetek azzal, hogy itt a vendégek igényeire is figyelnetek kell, hiszen NEKIK játszottok. Az este folyamán számtalan figyelmeztetés és kérés után sem reagáltatok a lehallkitási kérésünkre, mely nagyrészt a vendégek miatt történt. A wndrlnd idén kezdte meg működését, vannak olyan szabályok, melyeket be kell tartanunk, ilyen a hangerő szabályozása is, ahhoz, hogy jövőre is tudjon működni a hely. Arról nem is beszélve, hogy ezzel az egész art sorozatot veszélyeztettétek, a rendkívűl elutasító és cinikus magatartásotokkal. Mindez rendkívűl tanulságos eset volt számunkra.
A történtekkel kapcsolatban néhány reakció. Másfél órányi abszurd állapot után, nem láttunk más megoldást, a porta szolgálattól kellett segítséget kérnünk.
A szervező és a közeli társaság fellépése nem volt mentes erőszaktól, amikor is elszántuk magunkat a dj elküldésére. A porta magatartása az adott helyzetre nem lehetett volna körültekintőbb. Mi szóltunk a Rendőrségnek, hogy tisztázzuk a porta fellépését, a fellépők és a szervezők elmondták, hogy nem tudnak beszámolni testi sértésről. Kizárólag a békesség kedvéért a tiszteletdíjat átadtuk.
Reméljük a mi szemszögünk is segít a helyzetet tisztábban látni .

Stephen Steel: Kedves wndrlnd! Hogyan lehet az, hogy én is vendég voltam ott, s a zenepulttól 4 m-re állva vagy táncolva nem éreztem, hogy hangos lenne. Főként nem éreztem elviselhetetlenül hangosnak. Tudom ez szubjektív, de igaz ami igaz távozó vendégeket is csak a portaszolgálat beavatkozása után láttam. – K.I.

Borsos Lőrinc: Kedves Wndrlnd!
Mindenekelőtt szeretném megerősíteni -mint a buli szervezője a The Corporation részéről- hogy hajnali 1 óra 45 perckor, a buli 165. percében az általunk meghívott – igen nagyrabecsült – vendégművész kb 30%-al felcsavarta a hangerőt és ezen a jelszinten játszott 30 percen át (megvan a hangfelvételünk az estéről, pontosan visszakövethető). Mint szervező, szeretném ezúton vállalni a felelősséget a fellépő live-act-jének túlzott hangereje miatt, és hogy a lehalkítást többszöri próbálkozással sem sikerült elérnem nála. Mint ismeretes, abban állapodtunk meg Veletek a szervezés során, hogy ilyen az est során nem fordulhat elő, én azonban a kialakult helyzetet a terveimmel ellentétben nem tudtam kezelni, ami hiba volt. Sajnálom, és ezúton kérném utólagos elnézéseteket! Teljesen érthető számomra, hogy vannak szabályok amiket be kell tartani, hogy a hely a jövőben is működni tudjon. Ezek után törekedni fogok rá, hogy ilyen többé ne forduljon elő ott, ahova hívnak minket.
Azt azonban szeretném tisztelettel visszautasítani, hogy -amint írjátok- a szervező (azaz az én), illetve a közeli társaság (barátaim, ismerőseim) fellépése nem volt mentes az erőszaktól és ezért történt a fellépő eltávoltása a pult mögül. Az eseményről készült videófelvételünk és a jelenlevők is hűen tanusíthatják ennek ellentétét: hogy akinek a fellépése nem volt mentes az erőszaktól, az az általatok igénybe vett portaszolgálat volt.
Számomra érthető, hogy a fellépő cinizmusa és elutasító magatartása felidegesített Titeket (is), amire kirángattátok a pult mögül. Azt is elfogadom, hogy a felém közeledő biztonsági őr hirtelen nyakon kellett ragadjon, és rajtam perceken át fojtófogást kellett alkalmaznia, hiszen a nekem intézett „te is takarodj innen” megszólításra nem általlottam a rettenetes „én nem mehetek” mondattal felelni – hogy a többmilliós technika nehogy őrizetlenül maradjon. Azt azonban igen sajnálom, hogy a barátaim velem együtt lettek fojtogatva, kicibálva és kidobva a helyről. Aki ott volt láthatta: ők csupán a segítségemre siettek, a rajtam erőszakoskodó kidobó embert kérve az elengedésemre (az őrt alkalmazó üzletvezető is hiába próbálta a nyakamról leimádkozni a figurát, aki inkább – valami sajátos protokollt követve – hat másik őrt hívott s.o.s. a szomszédos Holdudvarból cébé rádión (a videón jól kivehető), hogy a kontrollt a barátaimon is kiterjeszthesse.
Elnézést a cinizmusomért, de ha ezt nevezitek a portaszolgálat körültekintő magatartásának, akkor hálás vagyok a barátaim nevében is, hogy nem felindult állapotukban szabadítottátok őket ránk. Azt is köszönjük, hogy az incidenskor végül is nem történt testi sértés, és az azóta (8 napja) a torkomban nyeléskor tapasztalható -lassan enyhülő- fájdalom csupán képzelgés.
Ha viszont mindez mégsem volt a portaszolgálat körültekintő magatartása, és ha picit is átléptek a hatáskörükön – amit már Ti sem tudtatok szabályozni – akkor szeretném (szeretnénk) a béke kedvéért, ha Ti is vállalnátok ezért a felelősséget és elismernétek hibaként, és nem veszélyeztetnétek a jövőben ezzel a magatartással saját art-sorozatotokat, illetve az azon megjelenő művészek és vendégeik testi épségét!
